Had you down as a bit of a lefty but never an anti,

broad shoulders Mike

:D

 somewhere in between...I have inherent views on they way the countryside should be run and also a foot in the camp of conservation and wildlife preservation....we must strive for a happy medium if our sport is to survive and be totally compliant with the law and without criticism.

I concur wholeheartedly with FM's post...This is a brilliant Forum with a utter wealth of available and still untapped knowledge.

I could never be Moderator as I would instantly delete all the smutty, coarse and lewd sexual innuendo which sadly proliferates the site these days and eliminate any members that have been rude to me in the past  There would be very few post left intact.:lol:

Ok, so if you had the chance to appoint a new forum moderator who would you choose?

Obviously the 'candidate' would have to be able to take a neutral view on most topics, be fairly intelligent, literate and have a sense of humour. Oh, and obviously they'd have to be hetero

I reckon either Mungler, Mr.Potter, Chard or MM would make suitable candidates.

For a laugh I'd plump for either MC, Kdubya or peter-peter

What say you lot :hmm:

I think the interview is going quite well so far, I'm doing a lot of listening and very little talking more like a counselor than a moderator really.

But I suppose I've got to ask a few pertinent questions so here goes;

Salary, not interested in that hourly rate type of thing, I would expect a per annum figure with lots of 0's on the end.

Bonus, I think I heard someone wise (Chard actually) saying that all mods were bankers so I assume there will be on the same sort of big bonus figure :good:

Pension, non contributory and payable in full after, what shall we say, 3 years?

Health Insurance for myself and extended family is a given I presume.

Holidays, now then I'm told that this moderating can be stressful and the best way to combat stress is rest and relaxation so a generous holiday package is a must.

Expenses, no questions asked :yp: :yp:

Company Car. It's a pigeon shooting website for goodness sake, I can't be seen in a bloody blinking Nissan Micra, a RR would appear a tad pretentious so I'll settle for an HSE Discovery.

Retirement Peerage, I know Teal mixes in the highest of circles so I don't think it would be too much to ask for after many months of tireless service

Well that's about it I think but can I politely request a quick decision as I've got another job offer on the back burner, package would be a bit better but that commute to Westminster 100 days a year is putting me off to be honest (I made that bit up, not the job in Westminster but the bit about being honest)

Yours Respectfully

Mr Potter

FM for moderator.....

All in favour say I.... :good:

shaun

With his drunken rugby lad antics plastered over facebook I don't think this is possible. Also with his increasing intrest in the gym, it could be fair to say FM is a closet Muscle-Mary in the making :yp:

The undoing of so many "respectable" pw members

Thanks for the nomination GRAM71, (was that your car I reversed into last week and didn't report?), but no, it's not for me.

But while we are on the subject, how about these Mods earning their keep?

Firstly, you've got to stop these first time posters who's first post is an advert. I don't like it.

Literacy and punctuation. If you don't use spell checker, that's got to be 3 strikes and you're out.

SHOUTING. NOW THIS ONE ISN'T SO BAD NOW, BUT IS WORTHY OF A VERBAL WARNING. I MEAN, I GOT ONE IN THE EARLY DAYS.

The 4X4 page should only be for proper 4x4's, like Land Rover, or Land Rover, now what's that other one, oh yes, Land Rover.

How about a Members Wives page. Let's see who REALLY wears the trousers in Members homes.

An HONEST PAGE. Where Members can actually tell the truth and not say what they think they should be saying, which leads me onto this one;

A DOWNLOAD PAGE, where we can discuss all the best downloads and where to download them from. Now I don't download, 'cos that's naughty and illegal, hang on, just going to the HONEST PAGE for a minute.

A JOHNNY FOREIGNER PAGE, where we can freely discuss how Johnny Foreigner is helping the economy and keeping us all in work.

And finally, a CRISIS PAGE, nope, scrub that, fuel tax, tax, bent MP's, that all fits nicely in Off Topic.

Me as a mod.? Honoured guys but do you honestly think after a week of people being told the rules by an 18 year old who spends his entire life either playing rugby, shooting, ferreting, drinking, reading truelad.com or posting on here that there would be anybody left? :yp:

Those of you that poured drink down my neck when I was 14 at Bisley, you are entirely responsible for this. Nuff said. :good:

FM :)

P.S. Bisley style meet up this Summer guys? :hmm:

P.P.S Libs is organising. :P

I didn`t know you were into that kind of "thing" !

Well my mrs is always telling me that I act like a child and I need putting in my place sometimes. I guess you just did a good job? This was my first forum and when I joined I needed setting straight now and again.... Always seemed to be who did the deed.

It's funny, when I first started here I couldn't think of anyone that I disliked as much as you! It took me a while to get the idea that you're actually a decent bloke and I was the one who was wrong.

I look back on life and see people that I used to dislike, and I actually really respect them. My first boss, the copper that arrested me for being messing up - neither were popular at the time but they put a lot into straightening me out. In the forum world, you're that person that I used to think was a complete b****** but have now changed my mind!

Anyway - that's enough of that. Time to go back to the "them and us" line of thinking. Mods? Who needs mods?!;)
