Dorsey
Have you been phoning to ask everytime you've wanted to go out? If that's the case then perhaps one more phonecall just to see if he's ok with you just turning up and shooting without phoning first in the future would be the way to go. sapper063
always ring my farmers, tell him what part of farm im on,its good for his safety and mine if i have an accident (the falling over kind)he knows where i am then. also he can inform me if anyone should be in that area working Edited January 31, 2011 by sapper063
The Pest Expert
shall i just ring him tomorro and say that i would like to go shooting more often but i dont wanna pester you or annoy you and see what he says ??
yickdaz
another way is just go up to the farm and ask is it ok to shoot on that day or the next day that way he knows you are going to be shooting ;thats what we do on a few farms; mainly due to the fact is we do the recon 1 or 2 days before hand so we know its worth a crack at them;then knock on the farm door and say theres hundreds on the rape and we are going to have a go normally the farmers have seen the birds on it themselves so they welcome you to have a pop at them;also they want the birds off the rape in the first place as much as possible. libs
If, like me, the farmer has said 'come in and shoot whenever' then don't. I still drop a text if I am planning on turning up very early or very late becuase of gates being locked/dog being out etc.
colin lad
my farmers like to know when iam about so i just send a text usually put hi joe just to let you know iam about today/this evening. and they are happy with that i go twice a week so they probably would be p***** off if i rang every time colin
FinFerNan
I'd just ask him what he wants. Explain that you don't want to annoy him with phone calls all the time and see what he suggests. Otherwise you suggest a text as others have said and see what he says. Just be polite and helpful, I am sure you'll work something out. Luckyshot
All farmers are different and they each have their own way of doing things. If you normally phone before you go shooting then give him a ring and just ask. I phone the farmer on a couple of my permissions but on others they have told me not to bother phoning as Im the only one that shoots there and he would recognise my Landy. If he dosent want you to phone him every time you go he will tell you to just come and go as you please.

A text is great as were pants at remembering and if the weather changes we change our work plans accordingly so the field you were going lamping in may suddenly have a lit up fastrac and plough in it!! 39TDS
Farmers are strange creatures. Personally I am a miserable sod and wouldn't give permission in the first place. Others find the job lonely and enjoy the call as a bit of contact with the outside world. Of course there is also everybody that falls between those extremes. Point being that there is no one answer to the question. Hope you enjoy the day.
