al4x
I always found norma 55g worked well in mine as do the winchester silvertips int he same weight, neither are cheap these days but if you don't plink and mostly just use them on foxes well worth the money. stokie
My remmy loved privi and could get some pretty accurate shots. But my local gun shop won't sell them as he doesn't rate them . I get fantastic results from remmington 55g soft point which I get for £13 for
bullet boy
I use a 22-250 and I use Norma 50gr V-Max ammunition, they are not cheap as one gentleman mentioned above but they are quality. Also Remington Accutips are good too!Give them a try in your .223 if i was you.Sometimes cheap doesn't always work as you have found with the Partizans! Davy Holt
Hiya, I've been using 50 grain RWS Soft points in my .222 for Roe and Fox and they have been effective, but have now moved on to 50 grain V-MAX for the Fox and they certainly hit a lot harder than the soft points did though they are just as dead either way. I've now made up 40 grain V-MAX to try for general work
Vince Green
If it was a new rifle, it might be nothing to do with the ammo it might be copper fouling in the barrel. Was it the first trip out?

Kes
Hi, I have a remington 700VS, I see yours is a Remmy. 40 grain v-max work for me. Factory loaded 50 grain Remmington ammo drops about one to inches over 100 yds, compared to my homeloads. My rifle is a 1/12 twist (find your from the remington site - check your rifle type and look - up 'specification'. My preferred load is 26.0 grains of N133 with a 40 grain v-max bullet. Its a great load. I was out foxing last night with a friend, saw one fox, took one shot at 140 yds and it just dropped where it sat. The bullet entry point was to within an 1/8 inch of where I sighted, no exit wound, as it was face on. The fox didnt even know we were there. I'd try homeloading its easy and the quality of ammo makes it worthwhile (and a bit cheaper) Cheers
