Poor Mrs pavman has just had to have 2 days in Hospital due to being a bit poorly. Now at home recuperating her discomfort was all the worse by poor ward facilities and ever changing consultants who each had to re read her symptoms in order to diagnose her care requirements, which changed each time!

Thank goodness it was minor by comparison to the two poor ladies who sadly passed away on her ward in the beds either side of hers, only adding to her distress.

A lot better now at home she is enjoying my full care, cooking and cleaning which involves mother in law, the local take out and me keeping out of the way. Its tuff to override my instinct to take over and help, but I have had to resided myself to do the right thing and let others more qualified take up the slack whilst the house head is incapacitated.

I await a quote from BUPA.......do you get housecare when you go private?

Sorry to hear that Pavman hope she get's well soon.......I believe your best and cheapest option may be one of these Eastern European's that are flooding the UK at the moment with the current EU additions. I think you can hire them for about a fiver an hour....the Poles are Tall blonde and leggy, I believe the best workers are in their early twenties. ;);):D:)

That must have been a depressing and worrying experience for her.

Hopefully, she is recovering at home and you are lavishing lots of TLC on her. :)

The alternative to joining BUPA, or something similar, is that you can get diagnostic consultancy, treatments and operations privately, as and when you need them.

You can also have the Consultant appointment privately and the operation on the NHS, or vice versa.

This can prove much cheaper, if you normally enjoy good health, or perhaps you have an "existing condition", which is often not covered by Health Insurance.

Cranners, guys thanks for your well wishes.

I am of course making light of what was a very upsetting experience for mrs p. She developed what’s called compact syndrome (if I have it right) in her legs leaving her unable to walk. Its severe swelling of the muscles, she is now well on the mend but a visit to my local Hospital filled me with a mixture of pity admiration and dread!

Pity; for so many poor ill folk, many seemed to have no visitors at all in there time of need for comfort.

Admiration; for the fantastic nurses who seem to have more compassion than I thought possible.

And dread; the fear of the unknown when you wait for results to find out what’s wrong with your loved one, and why she is in no fit state to make your dinner…bless

To any of my PW friends who have loved ones at the mercy of the NHS my heartfelt to you one and all.

Hi Pavman,

Sorry to hear the news, I hope Mrs Pavman feels better. The NHS is bankrupt, but people are not aware of that yet. It is a shame for all of us who work for it.

The likelyhood is that she had "compartment syndrome", which can be a very serious condition, with Surgical intervention sometimes required.

Take care!

Best wishes to Mrs Pavman, hope she has a speedy recovery.

I have healthcare through my job and it is with Standard life. I have never used it (touch wood) but the people who have rate it very high indeed. You can choose what hospital to go in and when. The down side is the £100 excess but then I am sure they all do that otherwsie people would be running to the hospital everytime they broke a toenail.

Cheers

Martin

I knew I had it wrong!

That is what she had and they where going to operate but by some good luck the swelling in her leg muscles stopped, She is at home and well on the mend now thanks.
