mfletch
Im not saying I disagree with the £5 charge after 3 gun sales Im just saying its the way everything is going nowadays money money money for everything you do. Plus all it will do is put the price of the gun up £

Bazooka Joe
Yep....good idea. Two issues that would bother me, 1. Having to post your details; Phone No/Email Addy/Address....I would prefer the PM System for all that. 2. Also wouldn't like to see the site full of dealers, think it would end up like GunTrader. Apart from that...Best of Luck with it

Gun watch is going to compete with Guntrader, Gunseeker, UKgunroom, Gunauction etc Edited March 13, 2011 by HDAV

Teal
will members be allowed to sell hand airguns air pistols or will the ban you have on here carry through ? You will be able to sell Air Pistols on Gun Watch There is a Private Messaging system on Gun Watch to contact people if you are interested in a gun - to message another member on there you will need to register your own Gun Watch account. When selling a gun you could also provide your Pigeon Watch username in the description and people could contact you via PM on here also. We are looking into ways of automatically displaying your Pigeon Watch username on your Gun Watch listing. Gun Watch is an entirely custom system and has been built from scratch, it will not be perfect. We are listening and will be releasing regular updates and upgrades to resolve any issues that come up, as well as to add additional functionality, so please be patient and if you have suggestions or find problems do let me know via PM or posting here
TomV
will the gun sales section on pw be kept?
Teal
From Monday, guns listed on Gun Watch will automatically appear in the sales section of Pigeon Watch. The Gun Sales section will stay on Pigeon Watch, but new topics will only be created when guns are listed for sale on Gun Watch, ie: to sell a gun on Pigeon Watch or Gun Watch you must list it through Gun Watch. I don't want my phone number being public, but I have no choice with GunWatch. Now you are taking Pigeon Watch sales option away from me! Why force me to make my phone number public? Teal
Now The first version will not be perfect, there will be improvements to make and we will look to add new features and updates as regularly as possible. There are a few points from this thread which I have already noted. Please bear with us with this, as we want to make Gun Watch into the best service that we can, but this will take some time. garyb
I'd prefer to know which PW member I was dealing with in respect of a gun purchase.. Rather than Mr Private Seller. I shall take my business to the stalking directory
al4x
Its an interesting one but I can see the gun sale section on PW being unusable if it gets busy with too many guns listed. I also wouldn't buy from any unknown but lots would so fingers crossed it makes a good buck or two

Teal
Apologies for those who experienced problems earlier this afternoon when searching on Gun Watch, this temporary crash was caused by too many people accessing it and ordnance survey limiting the number of postcode searches we could do!! We have improved the system by using our own postcode search, and this also means that we now include Northern Ireland post codes (a member PMed me this morning to say that with Ordnance Survey data it only recognised GB!) We are looking to make improvements, we know that there is work to do. We already have a schedule of works planned which will take some time to get through. That said in the next few weeks, we will release an update that allows private users the option to hide their phone number and rely on the Private Message system instead for contact, as there seem to be a few people interested in this. In addition, we are exploring ways that we could display the Pigeon Watch username on the listing (and that it could be authenticated), which would mean that PW members could PM them on here easily, and know who is selling the gun. It's likely we will release this at the same time as the phone number hide option- watch this space!

In the meantime, would people be allowed to enter a phone number as say 00000 000000 and mention their PW user name in the listing? Edit: just thought about authenticating the name as you mentioned. Realistically though this would only lead to nuisance rather than fraud. eg someone lists a gun and puts please PM "Teal". As soon as I do that I will find out it isn't you selling it. Therefore worse case scenario is you get bombarded with interested buyers - but no-one is actually going to end up buying a gun off a stranger thinking it is PW member they trust. So maybe as a temporary stop gap it might be workable for people who want to sell but keep personal details private? As a temporary measure yes that is an excellent suggestion and there would be no problems! We will make the changes as soon as possible, but it may not be this week, as we have lots of other required work to do.
