There may be many people on here who feel that the policy on immigration is seriously flawed and has caused a lot of problems in this country. I'm one of them and I believe that Blair and Straw should be strung up for their part in tihs fiasco. What I don't agree with are the lies peddled by people who are trying to prove a point about the negative effects of immigration. Stick to the truth. That is bad enough without inventing stories and statistics to try and make it worse.

Also, I feel very strongly that many of the issues that cause people to dislike some immigrants are not fully understood by those who use them to create race hate.

People understand that they as a majority are being taught to hate us, our values, our morals, our country :good:

Many of these issues are reflected in Brits living abroad and have natural social reasons for them. I'll wager that when Mushroom goes to live in Spain he will live amongst ex-pats and socialise almost exclusively with them. If he doesn't, and embraces the local people and culture then he will be in a tiny minority from my own observations of Brits in Cyprus and France.

Cosidering you are the oracle of the 21st century you've got me all wrong :P I've lived abroad before, intergrated and learnt the language, I've friends from all over the world :good: besides ex-pats are going to be paying my wages, I'll be mingling not socialising you don't hang around with your customers if you work at Tesco do ya

If it has not been said before Re Brits going to live in Spain or Franc etc and not mixing with local people that is fair enough but these people for the most part do not want to become Spanish or French they are what they claim to be Brits living abroad.

It is a different story for most of the people who come to live in this country they choose to become British citizens so as I see it if you wish to become British you cannot do that by retaining the culture and way of life that you had in your old country.

If you choose to do that you are an Indian or African etc living in England you are not and never will English.

Hang about Henry you can claim Spanish, French etc Nationality after a set time living there you don't have to due to the EU agreements but you can still become a citizen. Four wheel's point is simply we DON'T pretend to be citizens of said country, we live there as what we are British living abroad not Spanish for benefits and English when we want to be. Total opposite to having a British passport, benefits etc yet claiming Pakistani as you nationality as it suits, when you were born here in Blighty you either are or not.

I get what you are saying Re Europe and the EU but to be honest I cannot see all of those Brits that live in Spain or France giving up there British Passports and becoming Spanish / French citizens if that was what they had to do to live there.

All that most of them are after is the sun they have little or no interest in the politics of that country most of them have independent means or pensions or both and those that want more will assimilate and become registered citizens of that country.

Firstly, don`t answer for 4WD, unless you are he. :good:

Another thing is not to use broad brush strokes, my nationality is British, I live in Scotland and I was born an Englishman, I have a British passport, have claimed benefits here and I am English. I presume I am little better than they are in your eyes ???

Although the other one nearly got a dry slap when he started washing his feet in the sink which i had just put my coffee mug. Its all about having a giggle i find. If they want to wear daft head gear, then let em, just dont put ya feet in my sink ;)

Hate to say this MM my old neighbour used to keep sending food over when she had been cooking similar pattie type things, I have no idea on hygiene but finding the first hair in them put me off for life. Used to be a standing joke in our house every time she came round with them

Feet washing and ablution is all part of the prayer ritual, as is often evident offence caused when there a mismatch of ideology.........

He washed his plates O Meat in my sink “ I am offended” “He has no sympathy” because I need to wash before I pray

It’s a two way thing and here is the catch for me, when I am overseas I conduct myself with dignity and abide and or respect local custom, law and rules. The same can not be said of many of the Burka wearing community in Europe and the French have made a stance

As anyone who has travelled or spent much time in 'Muslim' countries will know, it ain't just the tourists / westerners who drink, believe me...

EDIT: before I get flamed, I'm not suggesting all Muslims drink booze, obviously...

Well I read the first page and I've read this one. I skipped the other 11 because no doubt they will be full of the usual **** that goes with a topic like this!

I'm not sure about banning Burka's. What harm do they do? I do feel that if someone walks into a bank or other place where you must remove a motorcycle helmet, then they should remove their Burka, but on the street they can wear what they want. It doesn't bother me!

I have Muslim friends - shoot with one too in fact and he's a top bloke, so I'm not going to generalise and fuss about the religion. Each to their own I say.

I think the whole outfit looks pretty good. It certainly makes me giggle when you see the teenage girls dressed up in full black suit with a pair of white trainers shining out of the bottom. In fact I almost laugh out loud they look so daft, so I recon I may even miss the entertainment of it if they started wearing our clothes.

The biggest critisisms that are mooted of Pakistanis and other Asians is that they:

All live together creating what some people call ghettos (many of whom probably have nver actually been to them).

They do not make any effort to integrate into our culture

They do not make any effort to speak English

They use their own to staff businesses and tend to frequent their own race for shopping and other services

That is exactly what many Brits do in Spain, France and Cyprus. The Asians don't claim British citizenship and the Brits don't claim French, Spanish or Cypriot citizenship.

Last week my wife went to Cyprus where we have an apartment. She went into a small bar with her sister and ordered in Greek two large glasses of Keo lager. The barman nearly fell through the floor in surprise. He had never had an English person order in Greek. And this was in an area where ex-pats have lived for over twenty years. The local paper is full of adverts for English plumbers, brickies, electricians, etc. There are English banks and solicitors. Everything that we hear levelled against Asians in the UK is evident in Paphos.

But, the reason the French are hitting out at immigrants now is because there are elections next year.

The thing that bugs people to be honest is the covering of the face we do not mind Roman Catholic Nuns having there heads and practically everything covered the one thing that we do not like and can see no reason for is covering the face.

Many experts on the Koran have said that there is nothing in it that says that women should cover there face it is nothing to do with realign it is a cultural thing going back to olden times when men did not want other men to look at there property ie there Wife.

We had a similar problem years ago with Chinese men insisting that baby girls had there feet tied up to keep the small and yes the Chinese women were proud of there tiny feet even if the could not walk on them these attitudes have no place in a civilised country.

There is facility for immigrants to apply for indefnite leave to remain in this country without applying for UK citizenship.
