Red letter day

Hi all,

Had a cracking day yesterday on some barley stubble in crediton thats in Devon for those geographically challenged,

Weather forcast didnt look to good but i decided to make the 2 hour drive to see my mate Stu anyway as he said he might be able to find something for us to shoot at but he wasnt too optimistic.

I set off at 7.00AM and arrived with him at 9.30 and it was piddling down  anyway we after a quick chat we went to one of his permissions to see what was about, he had reports of quite a few rooks being on the stubbles and when we arrived we could see quite a few floating about, we spent 15 minutes sat in the car whilst it was raining watching for an obvious flight lines and to see where best to set up given the wind direction,

I decided to set up on the left hand side of the field with the wind coming from my left and stu decided to set up over the brow on the left hand side of the field with the wind hitting him from the right.

I set out a pigeon pattern to see if i could pull any pigeons and stuart went for the Rooks,

well within minutes of getting in the Hide i was away with the first of 6 left and rights after an hour and half i had shot of 5 boxes of shells and accouted for 64 pigeons whilst Stu had only managed about a dozen rooks.

The wind grew stronger and Stuies Hide was getting a battering so i gave him a buzz on the radio and invited him to join me

well to cut a long story short the birds kept coming and we managed a total bag of 251 Pigeons and 30 Blackies.

I had 162 to my gun and stu had the other 119. the picture is of some of the bag not all of it stuie was still picking up in the field behind when i took the pics!! needed to get away as i promised the missus i'd be home and 6Pm didnt get home till midnight :oops::oops:

She wasn't happy but i did explain that you cant just leave the field when its going that well dont think she got it :no:

Thanks Stu for a cracking day :D:D:good:

Hmmm... Well I suppose I should say congratulations to you and dad, even though I missed it all cos I was at a stag party!!!

No, in all seriousness, well done to both of you, lets hope we get a few more days like it! May break 300 if I join you next time ;)

Well done again and good shooting, I bet your Maxis autos were red hot!
