I need to find the thread (video link) showing how to strip a pheasant by standing on its wings, I think it was demonstrated by an irishman, how do I find out or can you tell me how to,

Many thanks

Terry

Help received, thank you.

Hi

Put the pheasent on the ground, on it's back with its legs closer to you. Open the wings out and step on the wings. put your feet as close as u can to it's body. (also make sure the wings arnt broken as you will just end off ripping its wings off!!!) then pull the legs (hard) and everything should pull through just leaving the breast and wings attached. Oh and you might want to put some gardening gloves on when you pull the legs as the spurs can dig into your hand.

Hope this is of use

Tom

Dunno about anyone else but I find this an incredibly lazy way of doing it and verging on disrespectful to the quarry. If you can find the time to shoot them then you can find the time to present them properly, i.e plucked.

But then I'm a bit daft with such things.

I do find it a bit disrespectful too, plus skinning birds makes them dry out when you cook them -unless you wrap them in bacon of course, but in hindsight if you have a lot to do it is obviously quicker.

not my preffered way but each to their own.

ps i hope no scumbag antis stumble on the footage though!

Fresher the bird the better as well Terry. i find the pull better when done fresh, if hung for a while you pull more legs off and if hung over night then forget it.

I'm going to second this. Only do it when a few hours old at most, otherwise it just won't work.

Quick and easy and most the meat on a phezzie is on the breast anyway,a very good method for quite a few birds :good: and forget what the antis think,at least the birds are been prepped and not wasted :good: BB

i dont care what the antis think,it just doesnt look good does it...someone standing on a dead pheasant a pulling its skin off,and i do think its disrespectful to the bird, you can prep birds in a more dignified way-you can skin them without standing on them!

To be honest I really cant see how this is disrespectful.. :hmm: When pigs are slaughtered and processed they are put in a hot water bath and then span round to make all there hair come off. Sheep are also skinned as are chickens.... Its just a quick and easy way of getting to the breast meat. Just another form of it being processed

It takes two miunutes to pluck a pheasants breast and then remove them  its just my opinion the thing thats annoying is antis seeing stuff like that on youtube and parading it in front of everyone it doesnt do us any favours.

These clips have been doing the rounds for a couple of years,so its nothing new

Dont know about you,but when ive shot a bird i dont run over and prep it straight away,i wait until later and prep together, out of sight and outta the way, this is respect for anyone who may be about and who might get offended, get my point :good:

Anyway the op has got the info he requested, plenty agree with this method  how you prep your birds is down to you,but personally i dont see much difference in doing it the way posted or plucking it and pulling its innards out,its just a way of processing birds for the table :good:
