Benelli semi auto users - have you tried eley firsts in yours ?

As above I have a benelli M2 and need to buy some cartridges for game and some for clays.

Am happy with my choice of 30g Gamebore clear pigeon 6`s felt wad (am buying 1000 at £133)

But i need to also pick up some clay carts. My cheapest clay cart i can find is eley first 28g 7.5 fibre wad.

But dont want to be stuck with a load of them if the guns not going to like cycling them.

So have any benelli semi auto users tryed 28g eley firsts through there gun ? If so how did you get on with them ?

:good:

I use a Benelli 121, and it cycles Eley First 28g 7.5 plastic wad no problem. Haven't tried the fibre version though, can't see why that would be an issue.

Why not buy a box to try out before buying 1000?

Where are you getting the Clear Pigeon cartridges from? That's very cheap!

i'm fairly sure my mate uses these through his supersport.

i've been using kent velocity through my supersport which haven't caused any problems, and these are only a couple of quid a thousand more.

not sure about the m2 though, ours are more clay guns and cycle pretty much anything you put through them, bearing in mind

were using 28g max loads.

For clays, I only use Eley firsts in my Supersport. It happily cycles both Eley First 28gm and 24gm without jamming and at least once I grabbed the wrong ammo bag and found I only had Eley first 21gm, cycled those with no problems, jammed about twice in 100 shots, not bad.. :good:

I tried some Eley First fibre wad on a 'fibre only' ground.

The wads seem a little frail and tend to fragment too readily. This could well be a point of concern with gas compensated semi-autos.

Should be less of a problem with a Benelli. I am pretty certain they are 70mm. however are no match for Eley Superb or even Blues which

admittedly are a bit more expensive.

I would guess they are lively enough to cycle your Benelli and ok for clays but would not consider them a good choice for game.

The only clay load I use in my M2 are eley firsts. From day one it has cycled them no problem.

The only time I ever had a jam, I put a 3" Magnum load in with an eley firt and a Fiocchi PL30 in at the same time, just to see what it done!

Needless to say it jammed, sucessful experiment! :)

Im sure they will :good:

If they were the new type, I was going to present the info to my local RFD and ask for a price match, rather than keep paying £200 per 1000 :good:

Be easier to get blood from a stone if there anything like the dealers around here
