Hi John,

I bought some Hunter Balmoral Neoprene's just before Christmas and compared to my old unlined Hunters they are superb. Comfortable and warm. They are supplied with two sets of insoles as well of different thickness's and i got them from Uttings at £89.99. The RRP is £115 so a good buy. However i think with any footwear its best to always try em on mate :good:

ATB,

Pat

I suffer heavily with cold feet and joined with spending alot of time on the marsh in freezing cold conditions I used to really suffer.

Then I bought some muck boots from the welly warehouse (online £75 delivered next day) and these are the warmest my feet have ever been. Some say they don't last but I have used and abused mine this wildfowling season and roost shooting and they are showing no signs of breaking (time will tell) but honestly it is like walking on waterproof clouds !! also aigle are of a similar kin but a tad more expensive :good:

Muck boots keep your feet warm, but i have been through 3 pairs in 5 years, usually the lining coming away on the heal or splitting across the top where your toes bend, always annoyingly a couple of months outside of the warranty.

I have just bought hunter balmorals, they seem comfortable from walking the dog,but this weekends shooting will test them a bit.

Le Chameau with leather linings - expensive yes - but comfort and warmth yes plus yes. Have gone through three pairs in fifteen years plus - mainly due to my not looking after them properly but kept warm and - more important as one gets ever older - comfortable and well supported.

You asked about "wellingtons" and muck boots & the combat gortex, whilst good walking boots will not cope with more than a few inches of water!

I bought a pair of Grub's stalker boots from Uttings over a year ago to replace my Aigle Parcours ISO which were coming apart and leaking. I wasn't 100% sure about the Grub's when I ordered them but they've turned out to be far better than the Aigle; they fit better, are more comfortable, just as warm (very warm), feel a lot lighter and are cheaper to buy. The Vibram sole is also very good. They've gone through brambles and God know what else and are still fine. Well recommended and I will replace them with more of the same when the current pair have had it.

How about battery power heated socks?

By a decent set of rechargable batteries and a fast charger and you will have no need for new boots and save you a few quid at the same time.

I believe rsrjerry done a review on battery heated clothing not so long ago. From what i remember he had socks and said they were handy as the on off switch sat just at the lip of his wellington.

Hope this helps

Mine did exactly the same. They split across the toes where your foot bends.i only wore them about 4 times.

I now have hunter boots and they last well. Over winter I wear thick thermal socks. The only gripe I have is there is a buckle on the side of each boot. I think they are more show but the strap has snapped.

If you really do have a problem with cold feet then Wellies are a No No!

The lining will only make a tiny difference, you need to reconsider the whole footware scenario.

thats rubbish! I've got muck boots the spey variety which are fleece lined and neoprene and with a decent pair of socks my feet NEVER get cold ever infact they get to hot! my first pair lasted 2 years although the top half did rip in the end,i also have hunter balmoral bamboo carbon which are warm and comfortable to i use these for game shooting or walked up days the MUCKS Are definitely warmer though and if your not going in brambles and thick **** all the time (even though i do and it don't really matter) you can't beat them!BUY THEM

ps i don't work for muck boot
