Duffryn
A freezing cold, wet and very windy day at Powis Castle. I left my gloves in the Landy on the 1st drive and lived to regret it ! Very challenging shooting, the gun next to me was one of the best shots Ive seen, picking really high birds and hitting pretty much everyone. Great to see but very frustrating when I was missing everthing. The nature of the drives (and my shooting) meant that Rob only got a couple of retrieves on the day - he looked gutted. Anyway despite the fact that it was one of my poorest days in terms of ratio I realy enjoyed the day - hope you do too.
rimfire4969
Looks like a very good day and some cracking birds to test anyone I think.

My last day of the season tomorrow so I am just going to relax and stop trying so hard.
kippylawkid
Another brilliant video. They looked like proper January pheasants. No gimmees among them! Thanks for posting them all, it must take ages to edit?
Shropshire_Lad
Fantastic as ever. The birds did look higher and faster than those that have been filmed before, some real screamers! atvb Paul.
woodcock11
Another most enjoyable video - thanks for sharing your day. I wonder if you have the same intermittent marksmanship problem as I do? Sometimes if I get a flush of birds over me, I seem to lose my ability to concentrate and don't commit - hence the miss. I seem to do rather better when birds come at me in ones and twos - anyway, it is the degree of "erraticness" that makes each day interesting for, when everything goes well at every drive through the day [as on 7 January 2012] then I am at my happiest. Just got one final outing on 31 January and that will be it for the year - there seem to be some woodcock about at last as well.
Cranfield
Top quality as usual. Some of those birds were very, very good and would have tested the best shots, typical late season birds. My experience is that the more you think about your shooting the worse it gets, I believe its the same with golf. Relax, go with the flow and give them just a bit more lead. albifrons
Great shooting and great dog work. Just a question. What gun is it(I think it's a Beretta) and what loads are you using?
Tim Kelly
Great day again. Looks like a fantastic shoot, I trust you're going to do it again next season? Really enjoyed your films. Your shooting has become a little less composed. I think you seemed to have more time in the earlier shoots and took them comfortably in front. You seem to be snatching at them a bit now? Rob's a star. Have a great day tomorrow. It's our beater's day. I'm running the beating line as normal, but this time carrying a gun. Great opportunity to shout at the guns for their hopeless beating prowess and wild dogs! Hope to get my boys and girls some shooting though, despite the amateur beating team! Pedro
I've never had the chance to shoot driven birds, but that looked brilliant! I agree with Cranfield, you're missing behind loads, (not that I can talk!). Do the other guns mind you videoing? Great stuff, cheers. P. Duffryn
Yickdax and Cranfield were right I was way behind the birds. Both have given me some really good advice which I followed today and it made a huge difference. I was stunned how much lead those birds require. Thanks to thier advice ( lead , swing and not stopping) my last day of the season was one of the best days of the season rather than another frustrating day. Really appreciate their input ! THANK YOU

Re the videos I asked the other guns permission and the shoot before hand though I try not to show thier faces in the videos just in case. Duffryn
great vid looked hard and fast,,not being hardfaced but what is the costs for a day out like that ,, sorry to ask but just nosey No problem they are typically 200 birds days between 8-9 guns at £30-35 a bird. I will leave you to do the maths. Not cheap but its one of the only things that I spend money on for myself. That's my way of justifying it anyway !! I have a group of mates that I do a walked up shoot with. Free shooting we are lucky if we get 10 birds between us for the day - but to me they are the best days. I am very lucky that I can do a bit of both
