What are your thoughts? If you are sitting still behind your camo net, get up and swing into the bird, then it will be dead before it works out it you have not brushed your teeth TEH

Cranfield
If you can stay behind your camo net all the time until you want to shoot, thats probably fine. However, if you are looking up at overhead birds, or looking over the net, its a different story. I wear a mask and gloves 90% of the time I am pigeon or corvid shooting. CZ550Kevlar
I wear a face cover because at the moment as there is no background foliage i have to double my net thickness to prevent showing a silhouette this being the case i can`t see through it so have to poke my head up. Never worried about gloves as they stay down below the net.
activeviii
I use to but over the last few years i havent bothered. i shoot my fair share of pigeons. i have found its movement thats the key. i have on many day, just sat in the edge with not net at all and still shot birds. having said that, that most important thing is confidence. if you think it will help then it most probably will help something. A bit of sense at last…… Keeping still is the most important element in pigeon shooting. Movement is needed in the decoying part, that is why (90% ) of people use some form of rotary, bouncer, flapper etc. You can be covered head to toe in camo, but if you cant get it right in your head them you should have stayed in your bed..... ollie
I use a face viel for all my roost shooting and decoying. It means I can peak my head over the net to watch for birds without being spotted. Its a tool I never leave the house without.
Blackpowder
Face veil all the time, it maybe has not helped my shooting much but now feel naked without it. Blackpowder Edited February 25, 2012 by Blackpowder
deny essex
I use a face veil if roost shooting but never in a hide, if the shot doesnt get them then a flash of my mug will drop em dead
chrispti
Ever seen someone in a hide, at distance, without a face veil on . . . . . . . they stand out a mile Doesnt mean they are essential though, you will just have to keep hidden and still a bit longer thats all. deny essex
Staying face below the net line looking through the net and keeping still till ready to mount and fire does for me , if the birds are high enough to see in then I roof the hide as a last resort. sure shot
As Chrispti says if you have ever sat opposite anyone in a hide without a face veil on they stick out like a sore thumb ,yes I know if you sit rock still it shouldn't matter but how many of us do ?,in my own case I do wear one mainly because having a duff knee means I have to sit and shoot so I have to have the front of the hide low enough to shoot over the top, so any birds coming in can see me straight away if I dont wear a veil, also how many of us can resist looking up at birds flying in from the side? I cant, and have spooked my share, but there you go comes down to individual choice again, try it and see,Terry Edited February 26, 2012 by sure shot
