activeviii
have a look at duck commander jackets, i have a mate that swears by them. never cold but, they are camo. I use deerhunter, i get on well with them but you have to be careful on cleaning as they will let in raid if washed wrong. also the zips are not waterproof as my mobile found out in a down pour. sportsman are cheap, i use ram for stalking and pigeon shooting and i cant remember the name of the smart one i ware for picking up on shoots. Yoggy
http://www.fu-kit.com/product.php/169/genuine-austrian-army-surplus-gore-tex-m65-jacket-mens-s-xxl For fowling on the coast these are absolutley fantastic...For less than 30 quid you simpley cannot go wrong. I`ve had mine for over 6 years and its the most waterproof jacket I`ve owned. Although a little dark, after a few trips out the mud makes it far more "camo friendly". Brilliant Jacket. It says 'used' - how 'used' are they? Also, it looks a bit 'shiny' - does it make much noise?
andrewluke
dont bother with the Deerhunter Montana, the outer layer holds water and gets heavy and they tear easily, andrew

I actually have two....bought another after being impressed with my first buy!!. Although they say used both of my jackets were virtually immaculate....There`re NOT shiny at all. They`re a very dull green colour. I actually have two....bought another after being impressed with my first buy!!. Thunderbird
Thanks, will take a look. What do you usually wear underneath? I've got some army thermal base layers (like a 2nd skin really) which keep your trunk toasty warm. Just need to get some decent gloves, I got my hands so cold shooting last winter it took 6 weeks (I **** you not) for the feeling to come bac into the pad of my trigger finger. Also, I'm 5'11.5" - would you recommend i go for the taller version, especially if I'm sitting in the mud with it on?

I found this to be perfect. Underneath I wear a 2nd skin base layer as you suggest, then a normal fleece on top of that. I found that kept me warm as toast. I also wear a sundridge bracken bib and brace with muck boot wellies or a prologic max 4 chest waders depending where I`m shooting. I guarantee you wont be disapointed with the jacket. Yoggy
Are they quite warm without any base layers? It depends on the weather!!!!. Early season fowling all I wear underneath is a lightweight fleece. When the weather starts to get a little chilly from say November onwards thats when I put my second skin and heavier fleece on. But in general yes they are warm.
