Nial
Oh dear - that is not the world we live in now - lets share nicely - we are getting pretty good at it - March 17 for some July 12 for others - does it REALLY matter and do any of us really care any more - we all have to live on this island.... What's wrong with celebrating both? Nial (Antrim born, Down bred, now living amongst the heathens in Scotland).

CZ550Kevlar
Feel free to keep it to yourselves, why do the English feel the need to celebrate it when they don`t celebrate st Georges day???
leeds chimp
Celebrate the Irish today, I personally don't have any irish in me, but I've been in the Irish a few times so I think that counts :yp:
krugerandsmith
what is paddys day.... is like st george's day Lucky. Not really St Patrick exsisted ....English St George ( Not the Eastern Churches St George ) Was a story dreampt up to boost up the flagging spirits and moral of the English Crusaders. Big Marty
You will find to a lot of people in N Ireland its just another day. Celebrated by some in N Ireland more so in the ROI America ect. I know its only been on the TV and radio this past 2 days and in every school and shop through out the North..And thats why Monday is a bank holiday cause thats what you do when its just another day..

This being N Ireland things are never that simple. Saint Patrick's day was whether we like it or not hijacked by one side of the community as a flag waving exercise. Things are better now. PS. Working today and Monday unfortunately. Edited March 17, 2012 by ordnance
