Hallo bakaboy, yes that is the place. Are you sponge and dough or Chorley Wood, just retired from the lark after more years than I care to remember.

Iwas a Sponge and Dough man started in baking i the early Sixties.

Where abouts did you work, PM me if you like.

I worked as a technical rep, for Ch.Goldrei Foucard for many years, we may have friends in common, Last's, Janes of Great Bently, Smiths of West Mersea to name but a few

I worked at Janes when it was Harrises 1964 ish run by a Mr. Percy French and managed by Charlie King who I used to go sea fishing with. Also worked at Dennis in Brightlingsea,1957 after school, Chantry's in Sudbury (Mr. Chantry was actualy running it then as he's own business) Carmen's in Gorlstone, Catermuls in Birch, Scotch North Hill Colch, Mullis North Station Road, Colch, not in latter order though. Ended up with Blackberry Bakery in Stanway, Colch which I started from scratch in 1986 on a wing and a prayer, sold the business April 2011 to a polish guy after 25 years slog. I also worked for Thoroughgoods up untill they were bought out by Lasts who I worked for for about a month.

The only Bakery I do not know or have worked at (technical) is unfortuneately Blackberry Bakery.

I used to stay at the Anchor at Brightlingsea, and play darts for them once each month on my visit, Dinner was at the Bright Ling Chinese restaurant, Charlie wade the pastry cook was a friend of my Dad when he lived in Barnet, I dated went out with his niece.

Harry Cattermull was a Lancaster rear gunner lovely little man, his geese on the otherhand were a nightmare to get past.

Small world, do you know Tony Day from Bako?
