Cowboys day out today :D:P:lol::sly:

Me, Timps, Canthitathing and Don Corleone Azzurri are off to Catton Hall for their Bank Holiday rear-entry comp :P

This is a bit different from the norm, as we're practising for the Benelli Sp'auto comp, semi-autos only

I don't actually own a semi-auto, so I'm borrowing one :hmm:

God help Catton Hall

Gooks in the wire! :sly:

Good laugh with the cowboy guns today, and we all shot OK (though it wasn't the most difficult comp I've ever shot)

Scores on the doors :

Azzurri - 89 :good:

Chard - 89 :P El Magnifico

Timps - 86 :sly:

Canthitathing - 84 :good:

Other PWers also there :

Mr Potter - 90

Whiskeymac - 85

Maxus - 83 :good:

Timps and Azzurri trying to look like they know what they're doing.... :P

Canthitathing Big Gay Al missing with style.... :hmm:

Azzurri shooting with his AA Class 1st prize from the Essex Masters :good:

Big Gay Al scratching his ear 'ole and Baggy Trarsers Timps expecting rain that didn't really materialise.

A good laugh in good company.

I've got two more serious shoots this month borrowing the AL391 Beretta from Timps, might even get one if I do OK with it

I call it a missed opportunity that serried ranks of PW'ers weren't queuing up to lend you their Hatsan Escorts Chard!!

It would have been useful actually, there were some loose fenceposts in that hedgerow....... :sly:

Saw the cowboys today at Catton complete with semis, spurs and stetsons.

Mr P shot nicely after a dodgy first stand and finished on 90, I had 85 but the real star of the show was Maxus who shot an 83...which I think was his personal best. Well shot fella. :good:

Brett Winstanley was leading with a 98 (I think), though I think somebody else put the same score in as him also. It was a high scoring comp, I think there was an 86 leading C class.

Despite the poor forecast, we stayed largely dry apart from the first few stands. :)

Cheers guys (Maxus is actually the lanky one that didn't shoot today - easily confused as we both shoot a Maxus). I really enjoyed shooting with Scott, Andrew J and Roger today. 83 is a PB and made up for the 66 at FD yesterday. Thanks for all the tips :good: And clearly the brain training at Worsley recently is working. Just hoping I can keep it up

When your face is aching from laughing you know you've had a good day   :good:

We set off not expecting too much and to miss a fair few,the shoot wasn't that hard but a few targets were missed early on whilst we got used to the different handling of the Auto's compared to our regular O/U's,but by the end the confidence was pretty good :good:

Next week I think we're upping the game and heading to Orston...that should sort the Cowboys out from the Cowgirls

Whiskymac & Chard, I think (and I am not 100% sure even though I had a conversation with him about this)that we shot today with Roman not Maxus.

I'm sure when he reads this thread Roman will be quick to let us know it was him as he, Mark, shot his highest ever score to-date.

I scraped to a 3rd place in A class, whiskymac got 2nd in B and, if he went comp, I would be surprised if Roman didn't get a pick-up in C.

To be fair The Wild Bunch's performances were probably more impressive as they were all shooting with strange/new guns. Not only strange/new guns but work of the devil guns with their very different handling characteristics - so well shot Azzurri, Chard, Timps & Canthitathing.

I also saw Yellow Bear there today but he was away early.

Mr P autos can get to you, since I have got home I can now strip the and rebuild the Teknys blindfolded whilst just wearing my underpants sat in a puddle of mud covered in camo face paint ...... <_<

Aunty I think the PW shoot could be another outing for the cowboy gun, I thought I was at a wedding on that day, but seeing as I went to that very wedding on Saturday I think I can make it now........

Good work Mark. Well done.

I struggled to a 70, which I should be disappointed with, but after my recent performances to see something in the 70s is very welcome. At least I'm going in the right direction again!!

Yes, I think I've more or less decided that I'm not doing the English Open at Southdown, because I can't be arrsed.

So I'll probably do the N v S, but I'm holding off because I don't want to pay...... <_<

Don't think his brother shoots registered. His Dad does, he's been on here occasionally

Cheers,

I remember the younger Winstanley had a gun that was almost as tall as he was

Clay shooting isnt the most exciting spectator sport, but to watch the pair of them hitting most of the targets on the Skeet range was fun
