Holiday Suggestions

I am looking for some ideas for a holiday this summer and wanted some new ideas. Not looking for something too expensive, nor chavy.

Wondering if anyone knew of any little places tucked away from the unclean masses that gives a bit of an experience of that country. Looking £500-600 per person max. (flight/accommodation). Do not want anywhere in North Africa nor all inclusive as this tends to pull down quality. Have you got any ideas?

Whilst it is just down the road from Marbella  Ronda is a really nice, tucked away town in the Spanish mountains.

Agreed, Ronda is lovely, in fact as soon as you stray a few hundred yards inland from the main beach resorts the world starts to look a little different. A few miles, you might as well be in a different place.

I'd like to explore the Basque country, places like San Sebastian. Definitely on the list.

It has everything going for it. Apart from the French of course. Totally spoils the country imo.

Having been around France a fair bit I reckon the southerners are the most chilled out and funny. The best laugh I've had with locals is definitely in the Provençal towns and villages.

Not sure if your budget covers but Italy is fantastic. We are not long back from the Amalfi Coast. We had never been before but would go back tomorrow.

We had great food and drank fantastic wine. The people are friendly, the weather is good and there is plenty of culture if you want it.

I didn't see any "football shirted" tourists, any signs for "Full English Breakfast" and no "Irish Pubs".

Crete, great place, great people, great food, They love the English, the older generation of the Island will tell you tales of how they fought the Germans whilst in the resistance!!. We even got invited to a wedding after talking to a bloke for half hour!!!. What a fantastic day. :drinks:

+1 For the Greek Islands, went to Kos last summer, had a fantastic holiday at a small boutique hotel called the Diamond Deluxe Hotel, has its own beach and was away from all the major resorts and hubub, although it was still close enough to not feel isolated. It was about a 20min walk or cycle to Kos Town and there were regular buses into the town. Another option could be the Canary Islands, but be careful to choose a villa as some of the hotels are very much "Benidorm" style, Lanzarote is a great island with lots to do and explore. You could also try the Channel Islands, close to home but with weather you would expect to find in the south of France. My personal favorite is Jersey but you have to explore all of them to decide which is your favorite.

Hope this helps,
