Thunderbird
Just been informed today by Glos firearms that they require 8 pictures (4 endorsed, two signed, and two blank) for a co-term FAC/SGC. Avon & Somerset told me (twice) that four would be sufficient. Anyone else come across this discrepancy?
Chr15j
Yep! Silly but true! £10 worth of pics but no great shakes
Thunderbird
Thanks. It doesn't bother me if true, what does bother me is that I was told categorically that 4 was OK, then 4 wasn't OK. More weeks wasted....

Thunderbird
Not in A&S apparently.... I have changed jurisdictions recently, hence the bureaucratic nightmares.
steve_b_wales
I had to supply 8.
bedwards1966
It's 4 photo's per certificate/application. When applying for the certificates to be coterminous you are still effectively making 2 applications, 4 photo's each means a total of 8. Perhaps the firearms departments you spoke to before have a different way of doing things (I'm not sure why it really needs 8 - e.g why have 2 identical photo's endorsed by the referee/countersignature? Pointless really).
CharlieT
The Firearms Act states 8 but A&S seem to be above the law in requiring only 4 so no point in arguing with them !!
Kes
I recently submitted for renewal and supplied 5 from a sainsbury photo machine at the interview - the FEO saw my transparent file had 3 more photos in it and asked if he could have them - application form said 4 and he took 8. I have no idea why ? BTW only 2 wrere countersigned and it was a coterminous renewal ? Edited August 11, 2012 by Kes

Muddy Funker
I've just been granted my co term cert in West Sussex, it was an SGC renewel and FAC grant. It was 8 for me also. 2 blank, 1 signed by me, 1 counter signed for the SGC. 1 blank, 1 signed by me, 2 counter signed for FAC. No bother to me? Thunderbird
I quite clearly haven't explained this properly, for which I apologise. I was transferred, mid application, from A&S to Glos. A&S only wanted 4, Glos want 8. Nobody told me until I got a letter this week, about two months after my initial app to A&S. Paddy Galore!
that's a royal pain in the bum t'bird. seems odd that you need 8 when applying for them together, they only need 2 for the certs, anyone know why they need 4 for each cert? obviously they need 2 for counter sigs but if they're the same peeps counter signing for both certs then why? al4x
the funny bit is they simply scan them now and you just get a printed picture on your certs. There is no reason at all now to need 4 let alone
CharlieT
Reason being that the number of photo's is set in law, in the firearms act and any change in number would require an ammendment to the act by parliament. No doubt when the next ammendment happens this will be addressed.
