Scully
Did you paunch the rabbit immediately after killing it?The longer you leave the guts in,the stronger the smell. Squeeze tomato ketchup into a palm and wash your hands with it,then wash it off with soap.
-Mongrel-
Wear surgical gloves when you prep them.

-Mongrel-
I can see lemon juice would work, like vinegar it's probably the acid in it.
Fishermanpaddy
Licking your hands clean is the only way to go. The saliva neutralizes the smell, and you get a tasty treat at the same time.
roundy
Licking hands.......blerrggggg!!! Lol I did it all at the farm, it sat no longer than 15 mins after shooting.....gloves are an idea in the future i think, gonna try the ketchup trick now! roundy
Yeah, soaking in salt water....Mark Gilchrist method, apparantly takes the bitterness out the meat and helps the colour. Gonna try tomato and Basil rabbit pasta I think! Items on shopping list though, big pan and decent meat cleaver!
libs
Yeah it certainly is a pungent odour... I find the use of a nail brush on all hand surfaces with plenty of Fairy liquid does the job.
Blunderbuss
Scent glands! Lop of the scent glands ASAP!

Scully
Just a thought, did you empty the bladder before you gutted it? As Blundebuss pointsout, the scent glands can be removed if you make a deep enough incision when cutting off the tail.

tomhw100
So used to the smell it doesn't bother me I do where latex gloves most of the time now though. Can't say the smell bothers me that much I just wash my hands to sanitize them then wait to the smell wears off. My dog loves it....my girlfriend hates it lol
Mangled99
This might not sound right but you can use stainless steel soap, it really works just do a google search. It looks like a soap bar made from stainless steel just wash your hands in soap and use this at the same time. You can buy them for about a quid on eBay.
