Elby
I'm going on fresh cut fields where we normally shoot 5-6 foxes and not seeing any. I wonder if the very wet spring has stopped a lot of breeding this year?

The Essex Hunter
I'm going on fresh cut fields where we normally shoot 5-6 foxes and not seeing any. I wonder if the very wet spring has stopped a lot of breeding this year? We have shot 46 (got one last night) off a farm since mid Jan..... 25 + from 3 other farms all in a 5 mile area!! Granted they are getting a bit thin on the ground! But plenty of wild pheasants’ around, so that is nice to see. I did call one out from a wood the other night, whacked it and left it for that shoots grumpy keeper to see….. TEH

al4x
not here either elby, we shoot not too far from you and have had certain locations with loads, our main shoot I'm well up numbers wise on last year with the majority being adults rather than cubs, we did 14 off a 10 acre block not far from Dunstable early on, had 8 one night not far from there so numbers wise plenty about, a few local keepers are also suggesting they are well up on the larger estates as well. If your crops were late off is there a chance a neighbour got combining earlier and yours hit their stubble and got clobbered? thats why I'm well up on our shoot crops were the first off and they seemed to descend on it. wymberley
Won't go as far as to say not any but certainly fewer than normal. Although we were kept off the land due to it being saturated for several months, we have not seen any cubs on the farm itself. Just starting to pick off the odd one now though which are mainly adult. pegasus bridge
i don't shoot the foxes on my main permission (landowner does not want them shot), but usually see a lot when lamping the rabbits - but this year has been dead, and i mean next to nothing .
