P~MX
what I can't understand and maybe I've missed somethin but why is Mark Bridger being charged for murder when they have not found little April's body ? has he admitted to her murder ? I don't understand - can someone shed any light ?
Thunderbird
I think he may have coughed to it but they can't find her. Very sad business.

wymberley
As I understand it, the police time ran out at 3:30 pm - charge or release. If the CPS were reasonably confident of securing a conviction from the available evidence, he could have been charged. What I can't understand is that he must be aware of the strength of feeling about this one and common sense would indicate that if indeed he is guilty and has "coughed" to it, then also identifying the location of the poor little mite's body would make a difference to the court's attitude and to any consideration with regards to the family's suffering in particular. On he other hand, yep, there's always the Ian Brady mentality.

Vinny v
I think the options were to either charge him or release him. If he was released I think he would be at serious risk from the public so charging at least ensures he is still behind bars. V
m3vert
Police probably have sufficient evidence (forensic?) to suggest he murdered her and thus the charge rather than release (which I doubt would ever have happened). If he has put her in the river it maybe some time if ever before she is found :(
Muddy Funker
The only thing I can see possible is he's coughed it.
parapilot
They don't need a body to charge and convict for murder. If cps have enough evidence he can be charged. They didn't have a choice, charge or release, so they have charged. They must have something on him to release his name etc so early. Maybe forensics from car. storme37
my guess and it is a guess is he has not admitted it and he thinks all the time there is no body he has a chance. he may have been charged on circumstantial evidence. Iif she's gone into a flooding river, she may well have moved a considerable distance. :( Edited October 6, 2012 by -Mongrel-

It been great to see such wonderful community spirit in such terrible circumstances. I suppose community isn't the right word, this is sense of wanting to help and praying for the safe return of April, is far reaching to all parts of the country and beyond. We are all hoping and praying that April is found sooner rather than later, for the families sake.
miroku4399
I was confused that he was being charged with murder but am in agreement with some of the other posts that maybe he has admitted to it. Shane
utectok
Remember innocent till proven?! It is possible that the police need a suspect and they usually pull in everyone local on the offenders list? I though she had gone into a light coloured van this man drive a dark blue range rover? Anyway I suppose I'm saying don't jump to conclusions. Terrible events though my heart goes out....
Muddy Funker
The fact he's been charged with murder says something with regards to the search if it continues. As horrible as this sounds she isn't going to be found alive, they're searching for a body. Sad times.
houlsby
Can never understand how someone could hurt a child. Especially as he has his own kids. They should bring back stonings for people like him.
