I know brother has one so far i have rebuilt fuel pump, fuel solenoid, radiator pas pump, steering box,air suspension comp rebuild, airbags, airbag sensors, elec window motor, sorted immob probs, various elec faults, gearbox issuse list is endless! The engines are good but only because its from a german manafacturer!

Met a bloke yesterday after he saw my truck and commented on it being a lamping wagon he proudly prounced he had a p38 i sniggered and replied id never own another lr again! he said best thing ever way better than jap stuff i laughed asked him where it was he choked and said oh headgasket has gone! I laughed!

I think I've been quite lucky then...only had to replace 2 airbags and compressor, aircon condeser, heater matrix pipes and a window motor :)

why oh why would you aspire to a 90 that has been lowered and modified for life in London with a silly price tag to match, it woruld be frankly terrible as soon as you show it some mud.

With the original request at 5K it will buy you a decent L200 or ranger an older Navara or a shed of a landrover defender. Disco you will fare slightly better but it will be old and with a decent mileage on it. The things you need to work out are how far you intend to drive it as in how much time on road and off, what economy you can put up with. Then dogs and dead things inside or outside then get out and test drive some.

I have a 2005 Mk 5 Toyota Hilux, I have had it for 7 years and other than tyres and service I have not spent anything on it. Very reliable and never ever let me down. I will probably keep it for a further 2 years then look at what is available at that time. I must admit I am swaying towards the new Ford Ranger 3.2 but it will all depend on what Toyota have out at that time. I would highly recomend the Hilux as they are bullet proof, excuse the pun. :good:

That would be great for me but my sensible head tells me that if I save up for a further 2 years I will still be able to sell it off at a reasonable price and add the cash to the savings for the purchace of the new one. :good: To be honest with you I would be silly to change it now, and I can bet you that in 2 years time it will still not have clocked the 100k miles mark. I think it is on about 74k at the moment so it is probably just run in. LOL.

I'm about to put my Hilux Surf ssrx up for sale.

It's been perfect with nothing more than normal servicing needed. It's a perfect shoot vehicle and is far more pleasant around town than a lot of the other options. The large sunroof and the fact that the rear window drops make it ideal for lamping. It's got BF Goodrich all terrain tyres all round which are really good both on and off road.

Only selling as I now have a Navara as my company car. And you could buy this and buy a new gun for £5000!

theres nothing wrong with a lowered tuned up 90.i wish i had enough money for one to use as a road vehicle, but still able to tow 3.5T which a car can't.i say well done to londonluke for having such a very nice vehicle :good:

Funny

So an l200 is now better off road than a LR!!

Heard it all now.....

The only place my l200 went where the old defender wouldn't was the fast lane on the motorway :lookaround:

Now moved onto a hilux, I miss the old defender , but it is nice being able to listen to the radio and plus my weekends arent spent looking for oil leaks

+1 for the hilux
