Highlander
October's just around the corner, generally considered (by some) to be one of the worst months of the year for finding Woody. So where are they to be found at present? Around here the early sown rape is now about right and the birds are starting to build up on it, other than that it's still small numbers on the wheat stubbles. pin
Mostly mooching about in the woods round my way. Annoyingly whilst "enjoying" myself at my sister-in-law's youngest's 1st birthday I was tortured by a few hundred getting on what must have been very early rape. Quite a sad sight, part hat on, party food on paper plate with rugrats everywhere making more noise than you would think possible and I am staring out the back window watching woody having a good old feed with no guns in sight :yp:

With the weather pattern as it is at the moment Highlander it is like watching an August scene. Winter crops are being laid and the woodies are moving well. No flocking as such and they are mating which will end in tears if the weather finally gets back on line And I am too bloody busy changing cambelts to shoot any :yp: LB
tosspot
still catching a few on some late bean stubble drillings also just waiting for this leaf cover to thin out so roost shooting can start and my average can drop through the floor :yp:

Ferretboy111
Will be interesting to see how they fly, got 120 birds down, with around 50 odd wild ones, and 50 melonistic, and the rest common ones. If that all made sense. :yp: Should have a good day if the foxes dont kill them all by the time we shoot em. Alex
