barrold
Hi HCc I use two bags for deeks. One is a flambeua square bottomed decoy bag that i use for my main deeks set up on texas rigs. It holds about 20 widgeon deeks. The other i use for tide flighting is similar to the one your looking at but its 99l. It holds 6 mallard and 4 teal in it. I bought it though because it has another compartment in the bottom that i store my warm clothes in and side pockets for bino's extra carts etc. Hope your well mate
Big Mat
Have you seen this catcat? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAMO-DECOY-SHOULDER-BAG-STORAGE-kit-boot-strap-sack-hunting-fishing-shooting-uk-/200831507183?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item2ec27d9aef&_uhb=1 might be about right for the amount of deeks you need
Yoggy
Harry, you wont get many deeks in that mate.....probably 6 mallard at a push. Get yourself one of the standard mesh decoy bags they dont cost much and will hold upto 20 wigeon. If like me you`re a tart and like your gear Avery from Pro duck and Goose do some fantastic bags and the quality is top draw, they`ll cost you though. Have you seen this catcat? http://www.ebay.co.u...c27d9aef&_uhb=1 might be about right for the amount of deeks you need If thats the case Harry, dont spend your money, the wife said you can have her camo bum-bag!!!!! Albert 888
ex army bergan with side pockets removed can fit 4 teal,2 mallard,2 pintail full body decoys,4 widgen fuds, tide rig, small shovel, hide net and poles and the rest of the stuff you need also enough room for 10 ducks to go in.if you leave the alloy frame in and lean against your wading staff its like sitting in a arm chair. the bigger the bag you have the more stuff you will put in you do not need. think they are around £35 from army surpless on the net. zab10
i used a mesh one for 1 season and it rubbed all the paint off my decoys , i now use a army bergen which i got off ebay for about £15 with a metal clip / handle . jack pyke do one similar with padded shoulder staps but ive never had a issue with the unpadded army one . anser2
I have used many decoy bags over the years and I would steer clear of the mesh bags. They rub the paint off the decoys and if you have any distance to walk are very uncomfortable to say the least ( the bottom of the bag tends to bang on your **** and the straps continuly waant to slip off your shoulders ). Their only advantage is you can use them as a cover for your dog once empty. Over the past 3 years I have been using large Jack Pyke pigeon decoy bags. One is dull olive green and the other woodland camo. I can get 20 duck decoys in it ( mallard and wigeon or 15 goose shells ) plus 2 mother lines , a flask , food and 30 cartridges in a plastic box and still have room for half a dozen duck. I like the wide mouth and flat bottom , so much simpler to access the contents. They are very well balanced once the straps are adjusted on your shoulders. I have never been a great fan for Jack Pyke products , but these are great. I bought mine for £20 , but I expect they are a bit more today. In 3 years regular use , say once a week there is no sign of wear. try this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Pyke-120L-Camo-Decoy-Bag-Pigeon-Decoying-Huge-Bag-with-Padded-back-straps-/400241540698?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&var=670012061183&hash=item5d30413e5a Edited December 1, 2012 by anser2
ady 1975
got a mesh bag the other day used it to night found it ok sat ok on my back.got a carp fishing ruck sack that i use but cant get many decks in it.i tock 10 decoys with me pluse other bits. but if you shoot a few duck you cant get everthing in the ruck sack the mesh bag has room for that.as for the paint coming of i think you have to dry your deeks of or the water starts to make the paint lift. The Croc
If the paint s coming off the deeks, put each one in a plastic bread bag
Bows
I use a jack pyke 120l . Plenty of room for deeks, net, poles and spare clothing.
markyboy
The worst thing about mesh bags is everything catches on them! I hate them I use an army Bergen for tide flighting.
kent
I have a few rucks small, medium / large and one massive. i keep them loaded generally ready for the off each made up with a particular purpose. things to avoid are; Zips- they corrode with saltwater or jam with mud! lack of drainage- deeks can hold onto water as can kit generally Straps that are hard to fasten or unclip quickly thinking chest and waist here. Not only can they be a pain to do up, if you take a dunking they are hard to get off and swim.
Yoggy
Harry, This is the one I use now, by far the best decoy bag I`ve had in 30 yrs of fowling. Not cheap, but in this case you definately get what you pay for. Cracking bit of kit that will last for years. Highly recommened. http://www.produckandgoosehuntingsupplies.co.uk/avactis-images/00143_Float_Decoy_Bag_24_KW-1_Enviro_Noble_41.jpg
poontang
The worst thing about mesh bags is everything catches on them! 'Aint that the truth. I got round it by putting the decoys into a plastic rubble sack first, then dropping it into the mesh bag so they're easier to carry. mudpatten
Ex German army double shoulder strap canvas kit bag from your local surplus shop for about £20. Will comfortably hold as many decoys as you can carry and last indefinately if you dry them after a wetting. I`ve got three which are all over 30 years old and still going strong.
