Falklands again

Time to rattle the sabre, stop letting her bleat on and on and give her the choice....

If you want it..... come and get it!!

Find a nice open field on a desolate side of the island and start to dig some 4x7x6 holes and let her know her young men are welcome to reside on the island forever........

She just whines and goes on (and has been for years) using any 'aniversary' or event (Olympics) to write a letter to somone or send her representative with a complaint, or summon the UK envoy.

Time that the Iron Lady syndrome reared its head!

Give her a date and tell her if she so badly wants a row we will truly oblige!

There's a good telegraph article, and apparently, Kirchner's policies are failing badly. That's why she's often going on about the Falklands - it draws attention from serious problems. It's exactly why Galtieri invaded in 1982 - his government was failing and unpopular.

I also heard somewhere that Britain had the Falklands before Argentina as a country even existed. Could be wrong though.

Classic example of diversion politics. Argentina has a lot of internal problems and it suits them that anger is directed towards Britain than its own government failings. There is also an ongoing dispute with Chile over some territory that has oil reserves.

As long as the Islanders want to remain part of Britain we should defend that right. Similarly, we should respect any decision to become an independent state or part of Argentina (not that I can see that happening). The right of self-determination is one of the most important rights.

That might be part if it but if they do invade those people are british citizens no matter the distance and should be defended as if the attack was on the shores of Britain.

With you on this ,been in the forces and served in Ireland for two years different place i know but still British ( no offence to the lads in Ireland) I for one would protect wot we have

As previously stated, the Argentine PM is simply rattling the national flag to detract from the mess of her own economy etc etc.

She needs to wind her neck in. I have spent years of my working life in both the Falklands and Gibraltar and regardless of what happened in the 17/18 hundreds the resident population should decide their own futures. I'm guessing the Falkland islanders will want to remain part of the UK and if so we should remind the Argentine PM of the following;

- the Argentine military haven't really been in a major conflict since they got their ***** handed back to them in the 80's.

- we've made sure that we have been involved in every major dust up since!! Whether its the gulf x2, Afghan, the Congo etc...!
