ukkat
used to place these across the farm that i used to shoot at to keep the birds moving, usually placed in the woods that they would fly to/ roost/ feel safe in. great if you cant be in two places at the same time. BRAD1927
Only just started using them but very effective especially if shooting alone over a sizable area.

humperdingle
I bought a box and only used a couple of ropes... Box still up the loft Having said that, they do seem to work, but i'm not keen on leaving them lit the other side of a field where kids could potentially stumble across them. BerettaEELL
I have used Portek in the past, the Magnum day ropes are extra loud. just a note of caution never light them off the rope, the stubby fuse has about 1.5 second delay . Type Portek into google, good luck Edited January 10, 2013 by Gerard Knight

ukkat
Think we used to get ours from Scats, and your right about not taking them off the rope, as a young lad i very nearly blew myself up with one, but you live and learn the hard way, its probably one of the reasons that i have hearing aids, that and the fact i shot for 20 + years with out wearing defenders. In the imortal words of Capt. Mannering.... "Stupid Boy". Glenn.

I think I almost peed my pants laughing, loved bangs from then on. Edited January 10, 2013 by Gerard Knight

Whitebridges
Brilliant for shooting over rape. The batch i've got are louder than a cannon. If ever we get a wind here they will prove their worth. If you shoot in pairs or more saves a hell of a lot of time getting them hung in the right places. Catamong
I bought a bulk order of Thunder ropes from Country Store Direct a couple of years back, paid £25 a box of 12 ropes with 12 bangers on, they work a treat, cheaper than the Tanton ones, but just as good, as they go boom every 30 minutes. I've just looked on their website, and they don't seem to be doing them anymore...?? I would echo what others have said, don't mess with them, if you value your hearing you don't want to be anywhere near them when one goes off...!! Cat. DR JAMES
I have just bought myself a box of 12 with 12 bangers on each rope £41:00 for the Magnums "GREENS" at Morpeth. I am hoping to get a few lads together to cut down on the amount of fields i will have to put bangers in and also the large woods they are roosting in. If i get 6 lads (4 / 6 hides) i will cover most the rape except 2 fields & the woods but with 2 of the fields been at the top & boottom of the woods might not need a banger in the woods even though i do have the permision of the woods as well as all the surounding fields thx to 2 of the farms in Ulgham. Will let U all know how we get on after this event as there is 1K+ flocked together hitting the rape & the farmers are NOT happy about it. Ears
They are expensive for a bit of shooting. i try to take other shooting friends of mine, they keep em moving , and kill a few at the same time which is better. but in the working week thats your only way of upsetting them so thats that. more expense
