£99k shotgun

You get months of skilled labour as well as know-how built up over centuries. It won't actually shoot better than a £3000 gun, but that's like saying the Mona Lisa is no better at covering a stain on the wall than a print from Argos.

If you won the lottery big, wouldn't you want one ?

PS. It's a rifle.

I can understand paying for a piece of functional art - which sounds like what this is. I don't know if I would buy one with a lottery win. I'm a fairly low key, status neutral person.

Its like asking why you pay more for a Browning than a Baikal

:shaun:

Not really - there is a 5-10 times price differential here. Not a 100x difference :-)

Rolls royce vs mondeo................

TBH you can have a hand built hand engraved gun for a lot less. But doesnt carry the name.......

http://www.piotti.com/prodotti/modello-sovrapposto-tipo-boss/?pid=92 (Have held one of these stunning balance)

http://www.bossguns.co.uk/newguns.asp (you would think with a range starting at £67k they could manage a better website!)

Thing with these guns is a lot of the money you are paying is because they fit the gun to you precisely .... It's how you throw the Hun up to the pattern you want.... And people think they are a investment.... I wouldn't want some one else's Armani cut suit if it doesn't fit me.... It might be a great name and I can appreciate the man hours and skill as I've seen em made, but if it don't fit it and worth a s@@t

Having had a little bit to do with that brand I can assure you that these guns are an absolute beauty to behold. The detail in the hand engraved metalwork and the crispness of the action are unlike anything else. 400 man hours goes into the woodwork alone and only master craftsman with years of experience have anything to do with the construction. The service and aftercare one receives when purchasing a bespoke gun like that is also second to none.

However, I think you need to be a special kind of rich to order something like this.

I was at the game fair 20+ years ago and watched a customer walk onto either Hollands or Purdeys stand from memory and spend 75k on a pair of best O/Us in about 10 mins, he paid on his Amex card. They were not new but pretty close to it.

A

And Ive enjoyed them ever since,

you should have said hello
