Mossyoak77
I do like where all the controls are on them tang safety and the slide release , mossberg's 10 year warranty is a bonus going to trade in my hatsan escort I think. Arent they like the ruger 10-22's for accessories and aftermarket bits?
thepasty
I like the slide release but prefer a remington type safety, its a better position and you cant disengage the safety and have your finger on/near the trigger at the same time. They do have plenty of after market gear available but then so does the Remmy 870.
Danoi99
i tried some of them that their 63 gram BB in the 3n half inch shells. i`ve just recovered from firing 5 of them. they really did my neck and shoulder in. Wharf Rat
Good man! Snuck out at lunch today for 100 birds at the clay ground near where I was working. Remember to rack the action fast on driven birds, especially if the gun is canted to the right. I forgot on the first pair today and managed to eject the fresh cartridge straight out the loading port along with the spent one! What clay carts did you use? Mine hates anything 65mm. Mossyoak77
would like to finally get a go of an 870 see how it compares never used one, nice one do love using a pump on the rabbit stand especially the bouncing ones I do find doubles a challenge its getting the racking fast & on the 2nd bird. what pump gun do you have wharf rat? I use currently gamebore velocitiy's but got some dan arms that are good currently getting mixed slab this weekend of dan arms/hull superfasts, got a baikal mp-153 that needs breaking in more it likes the dan arms ones not the gamebore fails to eject them?. Think the only pump I know of that likes 65mm is the benelli supernova as that will take them up to 3 1/2" ones my mates mossberg didnt like the 65/67mm, I watch Iraqveteran8888 informative vids on youtube he says you can fit 14 of those 65mm shells in it Edited October 10, 2013 by Mossyoak77

I do put quite a few 67mm Fiocchi reloads through it no problems but Eley Firsts (also 67mm) it chokes on. I bought 1000 Rio 21g with a 70mm case and fibre wad recently, fired 200 or so so far with no probs. Perfect for the lightweight 500. 65mm ones sometimes get the face of the crimp caught against the prong on the lifter, and the brass gets jammed tight against the face of the trigger unit. I allways keep the Mossy's slide well lubed with a teflon based lube, it is definately getting faster. Must have put several thousand through it over the last six months. I have an 870 also, it definately slides with less resistance than the Mossy, but then it is 21 years older..! What it does on wax shells, cut-shells et al I have no idea. I am rather fond of my hands, face, eyes etc. Fun to watch on the tube tho'

Wharf Rat
The Remington has a solid lifter that will not allow the shorter carts to get trapped. I often use 65mm in mine. I do find that the end of your thumb gets trapped loading the Remington in a hurry though! Do you chaps find the same? That said, I am really impressed with both of them. Far easier to maintain and clean than a semi, light as a sxs and same sight picture as a o/u but with an extra round or five. What more could a serious rough shooter/rabbiter want? Mossyoak77
wont be trying 65mm through mine then heard the 870,benelli supernova & rare browning bps are the only ones that will cycle the small carts. dont know any autos that cycle them reliably?. wanting to try some rio 20's through my 500 see how they perform. was tempted by local dealers 870 but its the express model and im after getting my fac sorted more than another pump does anyone here have a browning bps? ChAoS
My Ithaca M37 has been fine on 65mm carts also I bought some 2" carts (44mm OAL) and it turned my 7+1 M37 into a 10+1 gun. Also, no feed issues, IIRC. Regards, Mark. P.S. It's a pity that [a] they were only 24gm (they wouldn't make the minimum PF requirements for use in PSG comps) and that they weren't cheap... TIGHTCHOKE
Just got from a day working at Sporting Targets, now have a fully synthetic set up on my 870 thanks to Kiffy. Can't wait to shoot it and the 1100 tomorrow.
nagantino
Making formal application.............. It ain't no beauty queen but its mine. I bought this from a friend who was giving shooting up. I admired it years ago and when he decided to sell, I dived at it. 24 inch barrel and as you can see its had rear sights added. I don't use the sights and as it cylinder bore I point and shoot at pigeons and crows. It works great using 7 1/2 Trap cartridges but I think I will try it with GB 6's soon. Great for the hide. Looks good to *me* - I'd be happy to have that in m'safe. Regards, Mark.
