Darno
Got a 12g sxs, took it out the other night and after discharging both barrels it is now stuck shut. The side lever feels like it always has but it is shut and won't budge! Any ideas??
oscarsdad
Can you pull the triggers in the opposite direction? As in towards the barrels and then see if the top lever opens the gun with them held there - could be the triggers are not resetting which could stop the gun being opened which is what happened to mine when I didn't put it back together properly. steve_b_wales
It could be that the firing pin/s have stuck in the cartridge primer.

The side lever feels like it always has but it is shut and won't budge! Any ideas?? I would say that sounds like the firing pins have stuck. Was the gun well kept? Not being rude but if not then it may be in need of a good service - either way it sounds like a job for the gunsmith.
Darno
Yeah, it was looked after, well oiled and cleaned. I have only just got it really, fits really well so am gutted! Any idea on cost of a fix, cos it was only a cheap knock about gun for the hide!
Blackpowder
A long shot but try taking the fore end off then try to open it. The replies with stuck firing pins seem pretty much the cause, fairly minor to sort I would imagine. Blackpowder
Underdog
Has it got disc set firing pins? U.
Gordon R
If all else fails - take off the stock and re-cock the hammers manually. You might be able to see if the pins are stuck.
njc110381
At least both barrels fired. My Beretta jammed shut once after the first shot and wouldn't fire the second! So I had a live round in a faulty gun that I couldn't unload or discharge - oh the fun! I'd go with the stock off idea. it's easy enough to do and should show you what the issue is. It may not even be the guns fault if the primer has pierced and got the firing pin jammed in it.
matone
Try standing it on it`s butt and dropping a cleaning rod down the barrels,if it`s a stuck firing pin that should shock it/them free.
bruno22rf
Take the forend off and ,with the side lever depressed, tap the barrels down at the muzzle with the palm of your hand whilst standing with the gun over a sofa or your bed.I would guess that one of the extractors/ejectors has slipped over the rim of a cartridge. Paul T
It does sound like a firing pin has stuck, which could be a sign of broken firing pin springs. Hold by the gun by the barrels and bang the butt sharply on the floor (protect the butt if necessary!). This might just be enough to loosen them. Pins/holes are normally tapered and if a spring is broken or the gun is fired empty the pins can over-extend and jam. My E Harrison has loose pins (no springs) and very occasionally the pins stick, causing the same problem. They are loose and polished enough to free up with a tap of the hand to the side of the action. Try standing it on it`s butt and dropping a cleaning rod down the barrels,if it`s a stuck firing pin that should shock it/them free. That's my plan B! Darno
Took it apart myself! A peice had sheared off the auto safety which I suppose has stopped the gun opening somehow! Will take to my brothers friend tomorrow and see what he can do! Thanks again for your help!
