PhilR
I was in Sainsbury's today and noticed most of the beers had edged up to £1.99 and some over £2 , think I'll be looking at Morrisons or Asda when I need a few in future.

matone
its why pubs are becoming rarer and rarer Got to say that IF my local sold a decent pint of beer,I would still patronise it . You don`t get a bad sample from the shops, always amazes me why a pub can`t do it.

leeds chimp
Why don't you just make your own? So easy and cheaper I pay about 35p a bottle now
unapalomablanca
I went legging it down to my local morrisons on your kind advice. I got there and sure enough they were £1.25, but 'were' was the operative word and the frigging shelf had been swiped. I had to settle for newcastle. onefulham
Sainsburys have bottles of Green King IPA at 99p at the moment, it would have been rude not to buy 1 or just maybe a few more !
secretagentmole
Unfortunately it has been mauled by Greene King. A long long time ago in the 1980s there was a proud independant brewery called Greene King, who stood up against the financial might and power of the big breweries like John Smiths, Watney/Grand Metropolitan etc and proclaimed that beer must be brewed where it was developed, as a principal part of the formula, the water, varied from place to place, so even if all other ingredients were the same, it would still be different! Now many years have gone past and Greene King are buying the independants like Morlands out, shutting down their breweries and brewing the beer in one location, result, the beer tastes a mere shadow of it's former self. Funny how times change and now Greene King is like Grand Met! Edited April 23, 2013 by secretagentmole
onefulham
I agree it is not as good as it was and Marstons IPA is better but at 99p a pop it ain't that bad.
