tikka.223
Does anyone on here take manuka honey, what are the benefits? Also what one would you recommend? TIA
Paladin
Manuka honey comes from New Zealand. It has an acquired taste, it's expensive, We used to pay £10 a jar 15 years ago for my sisters ulserated leg (pyroderma gangrernosa?) as the NHS were going to use maggots after their 3 years of unsucsesful treatment. It was spread on to the wound and cleansed and slowed down the scab formation as well as taking the inflammation away. If you are thinking of honey then plain honey will probably be just as beneficial. Hope that helps
yates
Is that the stuff from New Zealand? If so, it apparently has all sorts of medicinal properties. My other half claims it acts as an anti-imflamatory and is good for reducing joint pain
saab6110
Both my parents take it in a drink once a day with cider vinegar, they have both noticed improved joint movement. It comes in different strengths and I have been told to look for the 10+ strength.
saddler
Only time I bought some was as a gift...at a farmers shop at a crossroads in the middle of nowhere in South Island, NZ It was about £10, but that was for about 2 or 3 litres!!! IF I'd known the prices up here I'd have filled me boots with the stuff

billytheghillie
it saves you taking them out of oven every 10 mins and basting them! Does it help you keep up with them, or actually beat them?
Ollieollie
Does it help you keep up with them, or actually beat them? Ha, like it! I used it years ago for heart burn, seemed to help a bit until the cider went down
Catamong
They sell the 12+ strength Manuka Honey in Costco's for under a fiver a jar, a real bargain when you compare what rip off places like Holland & Barrett sell it for. I have a couple of teaspoons full a day in my tea at work, it certainly keeps coughs & colds at bay, a few times recently I've been convinced I've had a cold coming on, only for the symptoms to disappear, so, as far as I'm concerned, it works. I'm not sure that it helps me shoot any better though..... Cat.

Gilberts1989
Manuka honey is proven to kill the MRSA bug (also garlic kills it). I paid £10 the other day for a jar of +10 activity. I only really use it when I have man flu mixed in with my lemsip and I eat a teaspoon or two.
Gilberts1989
I think in this day and age we need to be going back to natures remedys such as manuka honey. Fed up of people poping pills like they are sweet, know wonder we have these super bugs about
