lakeside1000
I often pick up old tilleys from car boots and stick them on ebay, always sell well to beach fishing enthusiasts, they always seem to be missing the lighter though, a realy nice clean one with all the bits will fetch around £40 on a good day. fortune
I've got a Tilley Storm light out in the garage somewhere. I think it is a green one. Years ago my brother in law used to have a light that was like a small search light which was round like a drum and my Mother used to have a couple of Tilley heaters which had the same type of base tank and pump with a tall stem with a mantle and kind of domed tube type burner but had a circular reflector with a protector wire frame. This thing used about a pint of paraffin in a whole day and the heat that it gave off was incredible. The only serious fault that it had was that it was very fumy (co2) and it had to be lit outside because it had that tendency to flare up in a ball of flame without warning even when preheated with the meths soaked pre heat burn. They were just a heathen piece of kit. Probably ok if it was used in a well-ventilated place. When they worked well they were great but not for the faint hearted. Beretta28g
I use em for beach fishing. Their very good, and i have a local supplier of cheap parts. I generally use the 500's instead of the 264's. A mini blowtorch is a great bit of kit for them. Still use the old parrafin blowlamps too. by god theyve got some heat in them. Once lost my eyebrows and quite a bit of hair to a blasted lamp tho. johnbaz
Hmmm That's an elegant lamp Coincidentally I bought two Tilley storm lamps yesterday at the bootsale but both of the glasses were missing as were the mantels.. They were uber cheap though John
