This is the first working dog iv had so any help other than reading everyone else's posts will be really helpful ?! He fully housetrained already ...at the moment I'm just letting him be a pup and enjoying himself ;-)
welsh1
Lovely pup. Take it easy, let him be a pup,and when it comes to training later, slow and steady,so he gets it right and also you get it right, make it fun for both of you,and enjoy every moment. fenboy
He looks a handsome chap . Always a good idea with a cocker to get them play retrieving , just dont over do it. Also at 12 weeks you could / should be working on sit / stay and here just for 5 mins or so twice a day. My new pup is 14 weeks tomorrow and will sit and stay to command 99% of the time , I will carry on working on this for a few weeks before moving him on . mick miller
He's a bonny lad. Make your training with him fun. I used to use the recall whistle when food was due so mine associated the whistle with something good. I also used to make loud noises and pop paper bags etc. over Merla when she was eating to get her used to bangs. Get him as much exposure to traffic and other things that he will encounter in his daily life so he doesn't develop any phobias.
Paul T
Nice attentive pup . Make learning fun and don't overdo it. Work on basic obedience and basically let him be a pup first. There's plenty of time to learn how to be a gundog when he's grown up a bit.

hodge911
NICE LITTLE BOY there matey !!!!!! I got jess used to gun fire by just taking her to local clay ground and for the first 9-10 times [couple times a week for about 10-15 mins at a time] parked far enough away so the "bangs" weren't loud but close enough so they could be easily heard while all the time keeping her occupied by playing with her and keeping her attention on me normally just by playing fetch with a puppy dummy then started moving in a LITTLE closer so the bangs became a little louder and so on until she was quite happily sitting 5-10 yds behind the firing line and paying no attention to the bangs going off .still only for short lengths of time tho . this is what worked for me but undoubtedly some one will disagree ..............................they always do no matter what any way good luck with him ......................................hope to meet him soon hodge
