Partridge09
Having made dozens of Hide Poles over the years I reckon i am ready to buy some. Problem is I cant see on the web how good some of these are, one supplier makes a point of theirs being "british made" which sounds good but i am not sure if it really is. Has anybody got the record for the oldest ones or the most used that are still available today?

woodpigeon100
Used a set of shootwarehouse poles for donkeys years - not the cheapest but you can boot them into any ground summer or winter and still as good as new.
VINCED 686
I've been using the jack pike poles. they're not the cheapest but you get a bag with them. They are pretty sturdy and they are screw locks rather than twist lock which makes life easier on cold wet days.

TIGHTCHOKE
I'm six feet five, do you think they'd be OK for me? Yes of course they would, you either kneel down or dig a hole a foot deep inside the hide!
NickB65
I'm six feet five, do you think they'd be OK for me? To be honest I am looking for taller poles as I end up stooping all the time. I prefer to stand but I end up head and shoulders above the net - most seats are too small even the bucket ones. The only stool I have seen that would work is way too expensive. I used to use stell poles from a building site but legging them over the fields was hard work as they weighed a ton... and the builder wanted them back :-( Cut branches and bamboo are ok but the fields I shoot in are flat and when the wind blows they bend and whip too much..... Nick Go to Morrisons and spend £8:00 on four of their washing line props, last ones we bought were blue in colour, quick spray of green and you have a cracking set of TALL Bespoke hide poles! We use them on rough ground where you want the hide taller at the back, I'm 5' 8" and my son is 6' 2" and we have plenty of room and the poles will go out to just over 7' Good luck T.C. Lord Geordie
Used a set of shootwarehouse poles for donkeys years - not the cheapest but you can boot them into any ground summer or winter and still as good as new. I have a set of shoot warehouse poles and find them very flimsy You stick em in the ground and they bend just above the spike and the paint craxked away. Not the best IMO. Not the best IMO. With you on this. I've also had a set of poles from the Pigeon Shooter and they're on the way out too. I think I'll invest in a set of the Dinsmore bank sticks when I finally can't use the current lot any more. The washing line poles are fine when the ground is soft and they can be pushed in easily, but when it's getting hard as the clay area I'm in I don't bother with them. camo304
Yip you can't beat storm poles, they will screw into the hardest ground and stay solid even on mega windy days.

No need to push them in, use a guy rope and a peg, they will stay up in a gale that way!
rjimmer
You can usually find unpainted ones for half the price of those that are already painted.
