12boreblue
Having not had my little permission for long, the owners have decided to no longer grow any root vegetables as the cost in 'farming' them is more than the cost of harvesting and selling in the shop. So all there is now is roost shooting, and most of the pigeon are roosting in the trees opposite the houses with back gardens. So all in all, not worth the hassle. TaxiDriver
So are they now growing anything at all ? Have similar problem on mine in so far as they only grow wheat or barley whilst all around as far as you can see are rape fields

Martin&Oakley
When there's not a bird in sight I normally go for a stroll and see what's about. Also good to let the famer know of any issues within his boundaries.
Cranfield
Unless they are going to concrete the place, there will be something there to attract quarry.

demonwolf444
half my permission is just walks, you might get a rabbit or two but thats it. Feel for you - was looking promising this year until some guys went poaching and i found them all dead and wounded in the morning.
garden gun
Hey, any permision is better than no permission. My own shooting plans are 2-3 years behind schedule and had I been in full fitness a little walk round would have been manna from heaven. Quarry will turn up. ThePestControllers
Keep trying different things but keep going plus you can also use that permission to get you other permission if they see you are going regulaly they might know someone else who needs help getting rid of pigeons or whatever. dont give up. 12boreblue
Thanks for replies, I have been around a couple of times just to be 'seen' was thinking of pheasant but owner does not want them shot! Was hoping the ploughed fields would shoot up with something to bring a few in, but he has just had it turned over again, so just soil. Will do a couple of roost shoots to keep my eye in. cheers Ian
