Get something with a name and spares back-up behind it. There`s a good reason Beretta autos hold their money; they are bomb proof reliability wise and in the unlikely event you break a firing pin or spring you know you can get it fixed in short order. I am with the previous posts, albeit never owned one and no burning desire to do so !

When Escorts first came out, they where poo for a couple of generations of model before they got sorted, and I can see this gun being very similar.

Either hold back for a couple of years, or better yet buy a reputable make for the same money second hand.

If you buy a cheap beretta, use it the chances are you can resell it for what you originally paid, buy a cheap new auto from turkey,it looses half its value as you walk out the shop, providing it stays in one piece.

Do new Berettas not lose a lot of value as soon as you walk out of the shop? maybe not half.?

Not everyone can afford a Beretta , some can but cant justify the price for the amount the gun will be used , people dont want to be sitting at home saving for a gun they want to be out shooting.

I know nothing of the Revo autos so cannot help there but I have heard very good things about the Armsan ones which are a similar price , also the later hatsans seem to get better reviews and are alway coming up S/H on here for £200-£300.

I dont own a revo but have shot them.

Not a bad gun for the money. Fit and finish is ok, only jammed up on really light loads but i think thats probably due to it being new and inertia driven. I couldnt fault it in all fairness.

Cant comment on long term reliability though...

havent tried the revo auto, but i have a game o/u revo in 28g built rather like a baikel, lot of gun for little money,i do have a berretta a300,but i have an armsan 20g s/a i cant find anything wrong with the cheap turkish gun.in fact my mate says he,s avin one an he uses a beretta unico as well.it dont matter if it gets knocked about at the price, but if you knocked a good make about no one would touch it anyway.cant see any problem with cheap n cheerfull.

I shot a Beretta myself for several years so have nothing against them , but the chances are for £200 he will get one thats been shot to bits !

Seems to me ppl would rather go for the brand name straight away, well that's not me! and after having a play with the revo today and putting it against a second hand berretta, hatsan and a browning the revo was the most fun out of all of them and just felt right,

the bonus is its steel proofed and 3" magnum witch makes it perfect for what I intend to use it for.

don't judge a book by its cover so to speak! the revo is a cracking little gun!

I don't own one of these but I know someone that does (not sure if its that exact model, looks different) and he has smashed the granny out of it for about 10 months in all weathers and seems to be still going mate with no problems. That's not to say it won't fall apart next year but I thought I would let you know. everyone has a different opinion with guns just like with cars, some like Lamborghini (beretta) and others like lotus Elise's (REVO and hatsans) cheaper but get the job done. depends on your budget and taste. I bought a bettinsoli xtrail for clays despite people saying not to and I loved its looks and it was the comfiest gun I tryed so bought it. Good luck either way :)

These Revo / Armsan / Turkish threads are becoming more frequent ; perhaps it's time for a definitive list of Turkish made shotguns ?

For starters :

Hatsan

Revo

Webley & Scott

Armsan (Benelli look alike)

Weatherby (Beretta look alike) ... anyone care to venture some additions ? There must be others.

It is better to stick with a well known brand mate. The best advice is to get the best gun you can afford...........ask yourself this: Is a Revo semi the best I can afford? probably not sir.

Keep looking and don't rush into it...........and don't listen to the dealer that is desperate to get you walking out his shop with a gun that is otherwise destined to collect dust on his shelves !!!

Spend a tiny bit more and try and lay your hands on a second hand Beretta A391 or similar !! ( not being a brand snob.........sensible ).

Happy hunting !! :)

Makes you wonder why there are so many second hand Beretta's around and with Beretta's in particular they have to make a massive selection of guns with very little difference to get people to upgrade

Just buy the gun you like and what feels best, so little to go wrong with modern guns or old ones that a good gunsmith cannot fix in a day, I have had next day spares for a 20 year old Remington 1100 410 model, so don't worry about spares, on any modern gun
