New Friends,

I found this site by accident, while looking for plans for a puntgun and a suitable gunning punt to carry it. - I'm glad that I did.

(While puntguns are NO longer lawful in the USA for hunting, the muzzle-loading guns up to 40MM bore are still lawful for waterfowling in the country to which I am soon retiring.)

Should any site-member have such plans, I would appreciate knowing of them.

yours, satx78247

RED BEARD; karpman; The Ghost,

HOWDY, ALL YA'LL.

("ALL YA'LL" being the typical TEXICAN inclusive plural for everybody within shouting distance.)

NOTE: To my personal knowledge, David Crockett, one of our martyrs of The Alamo Siege, was not an "Indian fighter".

(By the way, General Sam Houston was an adopted "member in good-standing" of our tribe, as he married and sired two sons in 1835-36 by a full-blood named: Fawn Walking.)

Dannyboy220; noxop666; Martin & Oakley; Fisheruk; la bala,

THANKS all ya'll for the kind/warm welcome.

To Dannyboy: My comments are on my other query in "Waterfowling".

NOTE: Members of one side of our family has been in Texas since 1819 & before there was a place called Texas. In those days, what is now Texas was New Spain. - My late father's family came here from GA, MS & TN to escape the wrath of the US Army & the Georgia Pony Clubs.

My mother's side of the family came to Northeast Texas from Pike County, Alabama in 1865 to escape the fury of the Yankee Army's High Command after "The Late Unpleasantness". = The Yankees had planned a "necktie party" for several members of the family, who had been quite effective as Partisan Rangers of the PACSA.

(Texas was always a place to "escape one's unfortunate past" and to "begin anew, with a blank slate". - Even in my 95YO mother's girlhood, a certain way to start a fist-fight was to ask a man, "What was your name in The States, my friend? - What was your name in The States?")

Sincerely, satx

mikky; rimfire4969;

THANKS for the welcome!

rimfire: Unfortunately, "The Ghost" is all too correct. = AmerIndians & "firewater" are a deadly mixture.

(My late father, a full-blood, counseled me to avoid "firewater" in all its many forms, as he said that, "I know of no Indian who can drink 'booze' without sad consequences." - Like so many other of his comments, I failed to listen & learn from his experiences & accumulated wisdom.)

Were I not so much of a libertarian bent (and therefore intensely dislike the government acted as anyone's "nanny"), I might favor a law like that that our Canadian neighbors have, which outlaws selling alcohol to Indians. - None of us seem to be able to "imbibe" without making utter "jackasses" of ourselves.

(That's one ethnic stereotype that seems to be actually 100% correct.)

The Ghost,

Be really careful about smoking the peace pipe, as you never know what might be IN it. = A century ago, a fellow was smoking a pipe with a Shoshone chief.

He asked "What are we smoking, Chief?"

The Chief said, "Knick-knick."

The pioneer said, "Tastes & smells like buffalo ****."

The chief said, "It is."

DAVE_D,

THANKS for the kind welcome.

yours, satx
