thepasty
HI Guys The pigeon are starting to maul the wheat so this morning I quickly wipped out an old car windscreen wiper motor, linkage and stuck some full bodied decoys on the wiper mounts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQr0omLLQL0&feature=youtu.be I didnt get it out the truck in the end as the pigeons were readily comitting but do you guys think it would help to add some movement to the pattern or just scare birds off? The idea is to use the motor etc for a rotory but in rush this morning I didnt have time to get the welder out. cheers Steve
TIGHTCHOKE
Movement is always useful in a pattern!

steve_b_wales
Looks good and would probably encourage the birds to land.
fazer 1000
looks good but i would see about slowing it down a bit
thepasty
not a problem, I'll reduce the voltage
Edward Imp
Hello. I think its great. In fact, I would patent the idea a bit sharpish before a company nicks it from you! As a marketeer I would call it the 'pigeon wiggler' and sell it for £30 quid a pop. Let us know if it has an effect, I would defffo give it a try. motty
In my opinion, i think it looks terrible.
whitey10765666
Stick with it and see what results it gives you on different days,
woodpigeon100
Hi Looks to have a lot of potential on drillings and short stubbles- any chance of a video of the thing on a table top with no decoys. What car did you you get the motor off - they vary a lot. Regards Mike
thepasty
this one was off an early 90's VW polo but most motors/linkages work in the same fashion... find a mate whos got a wreck and rob it like I did you can get then cheap of flea bay, even cheaper from your local scrap yard. thepasty
You could also dig out the intermittent wiper control board so you have a timer effect, or buy one on the cheap... http://www.maplin.co.uk/k2599-intermittent-wipercontroller-3182 you could also add variable speed control... http://www.maplin.co.uk/panel-mounted-speed-regulator-module-30310 Or do it free by using an old dimmer switch. Cranfield
On a still day, anything that gives movement to the layout is a good idea. Making your own decoys or gadgets and getting some success, must give the same satisfaction as catching a trout on a home made fly, plus its probably saved you a few pounds. . babs2020
do you think it would be better with just one
superspark
Looks good, I would off set the birds so they do not appear to be dancing to the river dance lol, joking aside slow the movement down some as I have never seen pigeon moving that fast when on the ground. Try it out in the field and get back to use, good luck
jayDT10
It will work mate no doubt , I wouldn't slow it down though as it will be hard to see the movement. I've always found that the faster I have my rotary the better they decoy, when I was younger and keen i use to tie a Giude rope up a tree and peg it out into the decoys then screw an eye fixing into the back of a winged decoy with some string connected to the decoy and when pigeons were in the facinity I would let the string go and the coy would float down to the pattern then just pull it back when you've shot. It's loads of hassle but it really works well on winter rape on the not so busy days.
thepasty
My farmer friend was combining a very promising field today so tomorrow I'll try it on the stubble. The stubble is right next to some woods with shed loads of birds... could be a good day! My thoughts are the movement altho not too real will get the birds attention, i dont have a rotory or the like so its got to help surely, certainly enough to get the birds in range... we'll see!
