lewis2012
Going to start getting on the crows once ive picked up my Beretta AL391 Urika 2 at end if month. I am quite new to crow decoying so wanted to ask whats the best cartridge you guys prefer for the job? Such as make, shot size etc. Ive got about 150 gamebore clear pigeons 32gr 6's but thinking of trying something with a bit more poke. Ive also looked at the Gamebore black 36gr and also my rfd has 65mm 32gr 6 high bird. Please feel free to get them suggestions coming Thanks all Lewis
Greenhunter
I use 30grm 5's in my Urika 2 with 1/2 choke but 25grm 5's in the 20g, again with 1/2 choke (in both barrels). Both knock them down well but I actually prefer the 20g as I feel I shoot better with it. I have found that 6 shot doesnt quite have enough punch to effect a clean kill but using heavier loads is, IMO, a waste of money and is more tiring if you have a good day. However, its each to their own in the end. GH
henry d
Clear pigeon...crows do not have armour and tend to be a little lighter than pigeons, however if you mean rooks and jackdaws then I would step down to clay cartridges 7 1/2`s in 28gm would be fine. Have to agree there. 28gm 7 1/2s are enough if you put the shot on them. 247 over the last two weeks would agree with me.

Whitebridges
I shot a few boxes of the Gamebore Pigeon Extreme last year at crows. I didn't get any runners! http://www.justcartridges.com/pdf/gamebore.pdf Edited August 8, 2013 by Whitebridges
Frenchieboy
I use Gamebore Pigeon Extreme 5-34g too and don't get many that live to complain about the choice of cartridges! Maybe a little more expensive than some other cartridges but they have the poke to do the job which suits me fine!
superspark
Ive just nailed 40 crows using 30g no 6 clear pigeon from gamebore fibre wad. These are great for crow, rook, magpie, jay, jackdaw etc and are around the £200 mark for a 1,000 not too bad.
eccles
I can recommend no 6 bud Iv'e been using Trust Super Halcon 30g no6 for most of this year and they kill them bud most of the crows i shoot are carrion and rooks if i was shooting jackdaws i'd use any trap no 71/2 would be good enough for them.. Been paying £177 for the Trust carts a 1000
wildfowler.250
There's no way you're going to need more poke than 32g #6. I've shot plenty with 19 gram 7's out of the .410. And last week I was shooting them with 21g 7 1/2's in the 12 and just went for a full choke. As a general rule 30g 6's does basically everything. With decoying crows, you'll manage on 28g 7 1/2's if you're wanting to save some money.
ThePestControllers
nothing wrong with clear pigeon and you can still kill them at good distances as well so dont be fooled into getting bigger cartridges you dont need them. i only use them because i got some cheap but i prefer 30g or 32g 6's. great gun choice by the way brilliant for pigeons and crows. i shoot cylinder for everything now never have a problem at distance i use sillosocks crow decoys they are the dog danglies i have tried all other decoys and they win hands down even i can see them from hundreds of yards away. cheers Daz
Salop Matt
As said above 30gram or 32gram of clear pigeon 6`s do all my feathered game shooting with duck being the only exception ! ATB Matt

thepasty
I've just got a slab of clear pigeon 32 6's, they work a treat on all my bird needs. I think I'm going to go back to 5's after these tho.
Constantinos
The seasonal Hull Superfast - which is a 27gr 7.5 - knocks them clean at a fairly decent distance. Light on the shoulder when you are firing 250 in a day and cycles through my escort cleanly. Also helps that it's £145 per 1000 - give or take a few pounds. Cheap and consistent is the way forward for crows/jackdaws/rooks I would say.
