kdubya
if we took a leaf from their book and did scrupulous checks which took hours on those coming through our borders the scream from our European colleagues would soon have the spicks playing the game. Jay
The Gibraltarians were given full british citizenship in 1981 they held a recent referendum and over 98% voted to stay british. As far as I am aware they recieve no financial aid from the uk in fact they generate billions of pounds each year(maybe the spanish are jealous) through banking, internet gambling and tourism. They are very patriotic and proud to be british they have their own regiment which is part of the british army and have served in afganistan. Also they pay no tv or road fund license no community charge have free university education low income tax petrol half uk prices british brands of scotch gin etc at £5.99 litre, they are quite well off their government seems to look after them better than ours look after us.Gib is still a strategically important base for the uk I was told the americans want us to keep it because they dont trust the spanish to have it.Support fellow brits and boycott spanish goods . forgot to add they dont have vat either, I have two aya guns but bought them several years ago so they don't count in the boycott. Whitebridges
How about us making life difficult for shipping under the flag of Spain to come through the Straight of Gibraltar in to the Mediterranean Sea? Long way round via the Suez Canal This is the sort of thinking we need from the likes of Nigel Farage when we get **** from the likes of the Spanish. spinach
Well that's sorted that out. So back to the question. Why are the Spanish acting up? Sorry didn't add question mark. I'll keep the info for the day I decide to argue for keeping Gibraltar. I was aware of most things though I had believed we did subsidise something. I won't be boycotting Spanish goods even though I have close relationship with the Welsh Catalan movement. John.
Jega
This argument has been going on for years ,in 1978 I spent about a year working in Gibraltar(rotia bay) building a water desalination plant, as the then Spanish government were threatening to cut off the water supply to Gibraltar . So not an awful lot seems to have changed in the last 35 years .

Penelope
I read in the Metro this morning that the Spanish are going to try and stop ships refuelling off shore at Gib, and approach the Argies for moral and political support. Bunkering is an important part of the gib economy the ships are refuelled in british waters I don't know how they can stop it without force.
