eccles
A local lad had asked if he could come shooting with me 1 night. Arranged for him to come last night, told him to be at my house by 8.30 at the latest. Hung around till 8.45 no sign of him, Had planned for him to shoot rabbits and me to shoot foxes if we seen any. He better not ask again no chance. So i had to change my plan of action. Drove to the farm out with the 223 was just starting to get dark and walked along to first field,no fox but plenty of bunnies. Set off down the track flicking on my small torch as i went along, only walked about a hundred yards when i picked up a pair of fox eyes. Fox in another field put the rifle pod up waited a few minutes lamp on still there, off with the small lamp gave a few quiet calls on the wam. Flicked on the red on rifle it was heading in at a nice trot, he came through the fence and stopped and turned to look left whack all over. Seen 1 other not long after just other side of a hedge in with a lot of cattle, tried to call him but think he must have seen me walking along track moon was out ,could see him clear through Archer but could not take shot. Had a walk round a couple of fields no fox but plenty of rabbits, that lad could have had some great rabbit shooting, why local lads ask to come and don't show drives me mad. They all moan they got no shooting, pub more important I have stopped asking them years ago,but wait for them to ask me then they get the you never turned up last time bit. rant over

turbo33
How many times have you handed it to them on a plate? As soon as the rain stops, I'll pop out for probably a fruitless trip, but just good to get out. As BB says, plenty of time to sit around later Nice shot Terry

eccles
Thanks lads, it beat me every time i bump into anyone down town its always the same they got nowhere to shoot. Then its the can i come with you sometime, they know i can shoot anywhere in the area. But they never turn up when you want a hand to shoot crows, foxes etc. They all say crows waste of carts but will spend hundreds in the pub. Really winds me up just can't be bothered any more with them. Had a few off PW that have traveled miles for a days shooting and they said they enjoyed being out here shooting. steve_b_wales
It annoys me too Terry. You offer the chance for someone to join you, and they don't turn up. Not even a phone call to explain why, as things can sometimes go wrong. Good shot on the fox mate. Steve.

Rimfireboy
Well done terry, I can't understand that, when people reckon to be interested in shooting, get an offer to shoot and then don't bother to turn up.They can't be that bothered, that's all I can think. I had a period of time when I didn't really get much shooting and I'd have been counting the hours to get out there with an offer like that. Yes bud i'd be the same if i did not have any places to go for a shot. As i said above always got some good shooting for those that turn up. Winter time plenty of wild duck.geese woodcock etc to go at,they all want to come shooting then. I'd rather have lads or ladies off here for a day or 2 shooting. atb Terry

superspark
Although there is no meals from shooting crows and the like its bloody good sport and in my opion not a waste of carts. I take people out with me crow shooting and they injoy them selves as do I. If some asked me to shoot crows with them I would be there in a shot. I totally agree that giving them one chance but if they cant be bothered or say its a waste of carts then they are not a true sportsman and are not worthy for the chance to shoot with you. No bother really - just requires an early night. Thanks for all your comments Getting up early is no prob for me either. for a days shooting. The lads that have asked to come for a days shooting, all moan they got nothing to shoot. Be it early crows, night on rabbit,or fox they always come up with an excuse for not turning up. Like winding them up by showing them the day or night bags that they missed out on. Then its the i'll come next time but they don't get asked again. As i said before all the lads that have come off PW have i hope had a good bit of shooting and a laugh,i'm quite happy letting others shoot when out with me as long as i can take the P when they miss. As they will tell you. Thanks again atb Terry

You would not get any shooting done as you would be spending too much time laughing!
