malkiserow
The vac has bitten the dust! Which one to go for now.... old one was a Dyson Upright but there may be others better by now? This may be outside of your man-remit so maybe one for Pinky?
mick miller
Ask yourself what do professional cleaning companies predominantly use? The answer is Henry.
walshie
Exactly what i was going to say. Her indoors has worked her way through, and managed to break almost everything from Vax to Hoover. No frills Henry is perfect.
Pinkella
Have to admit The Henry is fantastic and lasts and lasts. I like Dyson as you can get some really compact ones that are easy to carry up and down the stairs, I don't like to ask the old man to help me especially when he's relaxing with a beer. al4x
we've gone back to bagged ones and really its hard to beat the recon panasonic we have at the moment £50 and if it breaks I'll get another

Depends what you hoover though, carpet / hardfloor / area / pets?
Pinkella
With Dyson you have to clean the filters quite regular, but they don't half suck well
FarmerSim
Henry's are great little vacs, but don't chuck your dyson away just yet..... they will recondition it for you for IIRC about £70 - we have had ours done, and its fandabidosy - like a new one again, but at a decent price!! its even a freephone number!! 0800 954 0154 also:- www.dyson.co.uk/support.aspx Edited August 29, 2013 by FarmerSim

DNS
I've got a Sebo conventional vaccuum and a Henry - both excellent. Henry's 'suck' but a conventional upright also has a rotating beater / brush which - in my opinion - makes them better for carpets.

And if you want to go down that style of vac route, my Karcher vac ****** all over a henry

Asa Bear
She says get a Henry. I don't know if she means a man comes in when I'm out shooting & gives her rug a brush over and sucks the bits up or the little red commercial vac. Sian
I have both Henry and Dyson - Henry over Dyson every time. The Henry has taken a lot of abuse with cleaning up after decorating, pulling plaster off walls etc etc and still works extremely well. The Dyson was used in my absence one time by the husband who used is to pick up filler dust and clogged it beyond repair.
