0791john
I wonder if anybody can help me on what gun to buy, I'm 30 years old 6ft1 fairly long arms so I'm guessing I need a 30inch barrel!? I do a bit of wildfowling and a bit of clay shooting so need a gun that can do both, I was thinking the berretta 686e or something like that, I've got about up to £1000 to spend , I'd like a right handed, single trigger, ejectors , multi choke. Ay ideas?

TIGHTCHOKE
Whereabouts are you?
henry931
I bought a s/h Miroku MK38 Sporter, fired a few thousand shells now and it has been utterly reliable. It has the 3" chambers with high performace steel proof. I don't use steel but do use 50gm BB loads for foxes through it. The gun is 8.5 lb so soaks up recoil well. Triggers are 4 lb bottom and 4.5 lb top might have them lightened at some point. The only thing is the firing pins are getting a bit rough and pierce the odd (maybe 1 in a 500) budget cartridge primer. Also the monobloc is starting to tarnish a bit you might have to watch this when wildfowling. I shot a 686e quite a bit before that and could hit stuff with it the same but it knocked my cheek about a bit after firing 100+ shells. I don't have the same problem now with the Miroku. Miroku/Browning vs Beretta is a bit like marmite down to the individual because the browning action is much deeper. You need to try shooting both really to see what you like. I'd say for you 30 or 32" barrels with at least 3" chambers (you can get 3.5" O/U) and preferably steel proof although I know a lot of people fire steels anyway. arjimlad
My Browning 525 30" M/C game gun is 3" chambers and steel shot proofed. It's great for clays and anything else. You can pick a used one up for £1,000 or less.

gazbev
Berettas boast a ten year guarantee but they don't suit everyone because they feel slim,I like them and I'm not small.Go and see what fits you

Oh and they literally outsell all other makes put together !It's funny isn't it all this negative talk about Berettas,I just don't get it I have a 686 with a narrow rib and love it and not a moments problem.I have some friends who will say huh what did you have a Beretta for?If you talk to people who know their stuff normally they won't say a bad word about them,of course they are mass produced and there are some that develop problems. Which other manufacturer apart from benelli who beretta own offer a TEN year guarantee
gazbev
Just thought I would add this by *********** no less You are not going to go wrong if you buy a Silver Pigeon 1. It is made with integrity, has all the features most people need, and should last a life-time if given minimum attention. It’s build quality is impeccable too, and, it shoots well. Is it a better buy than a second-hand gun? Well, it depends on what is on offer, old Berettas hold their value well for a reason – they are virtually indestructible unless grossly abused. There are some great buys out there at the moment too. Nevertheless, if I was advising someone inexperienced to buy a gun, I think I would have to suggest buying new - and, moreover, buying something just like this. A lot of peace of mind comes with a new gun and a good guarantee. This is offers a lot of gun for the money – indeed, it offers outstanding value on today’s market. Is it perfect? No. Open the bores a bit and reduce barrel weight (why not go Optibore?) and you would have a world beater if you could bring it in at a similar price. Danoi99
Baikal..........£100.............then stick £900 in the bank !!, on a serious note, I do agree with some people here...............the Mk38 is a cracking gun for the money. Not gonna start slagging off Beretta though, I would have a Silver Pigeon 1 with 32 inch barrels if I could afford it. Gun buying is hard work..........too many choices !!! too many opinions !! Good luck matey !!
