smokinggun
I was told when I did mine that a friend could sign and that the Good standing person bit didnt matter anymore so a work pal signed mine off for me, maybe they've changed it again since then. team tractor
Of course your boss can sign it . I've just signed an fac for the lad that works for me and my sgc was signed by teachers, nurses, boss of companies, best mate, university lecturer. Makes me laugh as you spend 9-10 hours a day at work so who knows you better.
hawkeye
Any friend that has known you for over i think its 3 years can sign better some one that knows you rather than the likes of the doctor who you might not have seen for years.. Elby
It's always been the rule that a director can sign but must have over 10 employees. Generally they don't check though. Seems you've been unlucky

toontastic
Over the years I've had mine signed by accountant, social worker and fireman. As aris says teacher is also a good option. I'm sure if you relax and think about the people you know you'll come up with someone suitable.
aris
I don't think they can arbitrarily change rules. Are your BASC member?

Elby
Like I said You've been unlucky. I've signed for many people as a director and the guys that worked for me varied a lot and were all self employed

stoggieman
Recently had to get mine done. If you live in East Yorkshire and follow the rules laid down on the new application form you will become aware that the criteria HAS been moved somewhat since the last time I had to do it 5yrs ago. Yes a doctor can sign it for you he will charge you at least £40 I was very upset with the new rules and regulations don,t think mine listed a company director just profesional people ie JP LAWYER DOCTOR CLERGYMAN ECT Infact the sort of people the average countryman just does not come into contact with everyday I was fortunate that I have been freinds with a civil servant and he was able to sign my forms for me. Due to the problem I had and the nasty pcso that did the interview I very much doubt I will need to renew in 5 years time infact I think the powers that be would sooner see gun ownership in the hands of the landed gentry only. HDAV
Join BASC now, not at some point future do it tonight! Check the new HO guidance on counter signatories I haven't checked to see if it changed. I am fortunate that I know plenty of people who could sign my renewal (2 years was the time frame) I wouldn't go for GP unless a personal friend who will do it for free.
