Dazza9t9
Good morning all, I have my first driven pheasant day tomorrow. It's a small DIY syndicate, I was previously a beater there so know everyone but I am incredibly nervous. I feel like a child before first day at school, I have my pencil case out to make sure I have all the correct pens and pencils. I am looking forward to or but yeah I am nervous! Nikk
Ha ha I remember that feeling, had my first driven day last year
KFC
Heh heh, and the first high cock bird will come all on its own straight over your peg and every one will be watching
welshwarrior
Relax and enjoy it. Just remember no one minds shooting with a poor shot no likes shooting with an unsafe shot. It's about enjoying shooting not killing lots of birds.

JDog
Just remember the 45 degree rule and practice swinging and mounting your gun before you go with that in mind.
rimfire4969
I am sure you will have a great day. I have a check list that I use every time I go, other wise I am forever wanting to check that I put the gun in the car.
la bala
hit the first bird, and you are hopefully home and dry.
station
You'll massively enjoy it and the next one will feel more familiar - but with the same buzz of excitement It's the most wonderful time of the year
Dazza9t9
Thanks for all the comments. I'm just preping anything now. It does help I used to beat on this shoot but I'll feel better once then first drive is over
rimfire4969
Do a list so you know you have everything. Hopefully your shoot is one where they will rib you all day for a rubbish shot, and you can take the Mickey out of the beater who's dog ran in. As far as I am concerned you are meant to be having fun so just enjoy.
Dazza9t9
Check list done, kit cleaned and working, far to much packed up but sorted. It's a good friendly shoot, very small but I enjoyed beating on it last year. I will keep you posted how I get on. Bed time for me

norfolk dumpling
Just make sure plenty of sky behind the target before you pull trigger and have a great time. If I'm having an 'iffy' day it usually reassures me to look down the line as there is often someone having a worse time than me!
Dazza9t9
Hey all Just got back and what a fantastic day. First shot hit a cock pheasant. Blue sky all around however it was a little low so advice was given, which was greatly received. rest of the day I was a little hesitant but is rather be safe and not take the shot. It was my first day shoot with others so definately a learning curve. Next shoot is in 2 weeks and I can't wait.
rimfire4969
Glad you had a great time. Sounds like your shot was safe just a bit of a low bird. Well done.

Yeah it was, it just broke and hit it. Probably should have left it a second longer. But yeah what a great day. I really enjoyed the getting dressed up, the banter, the walk out. I can't wait for the next

I am out with my syndicate tomorrow and after shooting for many years I still love the whole day, from getting dressed up to taking the rise out of someone. I get so over excited and my dog feeds from me and gets wound up as well. Roll on tomorrow.
