David Blunketts observations on the Roma

When you live in as much poverty as they do in their own countries, is it not right to allow them to rake through the stuff you throw away to make ends meet?

No.

Romania is an EU member state, and has been for nearly 7 years. They've had over 20 billion Euros in that time to help bring the country up to 'EU standards'. They've failed miserably, and continue to do so.

As far as I can see the EU is supposed to be a first world developed region. Trying to integrate third world countries by simply throwing money at them never has, and never will work. Romania and all the other ex USSR satellite states should never have been allowed to join the EU. I can't really see what any of them 'bring to the table'.

If the Romanian government, with massive EU financial investment, can't put their own house in order, why should we?

So we just throw the things we don`t want into landfill instead of giving them to those who need.

The Roma people have not just come from Romania, they have come from all over Europe, they are a dispossessed people and everywhere they are discriminated against. At the moment they are coming here to sleep rough, cadge change and rake through rubbish for what they can use or sell, yeah a real christian country we are.

A lot of clothes, as shown in the film, are stolen from clothes banks, doorsteps and charity shops. Millions of pounds are lost every year by charities due to organised criminal gangs. Many of the gangs involved are from the EU eastern European states.

It could be argued that Jews are/were a dispossessed people too, and have certainly been discriminated against across the world. However, there are plenty of Jewish communities across the UK that don't seem to court the sort of headlines that the Roma do...I wonder why?

Apart from the fact that anyone who believes in Christ clearly has a problem separating fairy stories and fact these people are simply taking what they see as the easy route to free resources instead of generating anything by their own efforts in their own country. They are at the bottom of the pile because that is where their own efforts or lack of have left them and their own demonstrated behaviour is exactly why they are discriminated against, using our streets as their toilets along with thieving and begging. They have nothing to offer this country apart from demonstrating the damage being part of the EU does.

What they bring to the table is votes in the European Parliament for further EU integration. Becoming a member of the EU means access to central funding. There is no advantage to this if your country has contributed that money in the first place, but poor countries who will be net recipients have everything to gain - at least in the short term - from voting for more Europe rather than less. The advance of the single state means pooled resources and pooled labour makets. For countries which are independantly wealthy this represents a net loss: if it were down to the wealthy northern European states, the EU would still be the trading block promised in 1975; but to impoverished accession states, voting for treaties which extend central powers and diminish national sovereignty means an opportunity to dip into the wallets of wealthy countries and ransack their labour markets in a way that is impossible in the real world beyond the EU. (And if they're really unlucky, access to German interest rates and credit worthiness without possessing an iota of German earning power, which means certain bankruptcy). So of course these countries can be relied upon to vote for every treaty going. And that is how the EU expands, both its borders and its central powers. Turkeys seldom vote for Christmas but the hungry always vote for a free lunch. And while that fact can be exploited to serve the ambitions of EU imperialists it doesn't matter who pays in the end.

He was KW, along with Straw who is also admitting they got it wrong. The best laugh today was Alastair Campbell complaining about how cruel, bullying and manipulative the press are. He wasn't like that at all was he.

New communism knew exactly what they were doing when the opened the doors on immigration.

As for all the other posts about stealing, I really do despair. How big a generalisation is that? It is like saying everyone on benefit is a layabout, get real eh?

The only fact is that human morality is absolutely not dependant on believing in some fantasy sky fairy. If you want your part of the world filled with more trash maybe you should organise a coach trip to collect them all. I'm sure your neighbours would be eternally grateful.

There is simply no PROOF of the existence of Christ - you may have strongly held beliefs Henry, but that's just opinion. Unless you missed it, a fact is indisputably true - or are the rest of us missing something ?

Immigration has been and will continue to be a problem until it is controlled - thats an opinion shared by many but it doesnt make it a fact.

I think you need to get real saying its a fact that Christ existed

To be fair, the person known as Jesus of Nazareth who proclaimed himself the Messiah sent by God, who upset the established Judaic orthodoxy no end and who was executed by the Roman occupiers to keep the political peace, did exist, in so far as the historical record can be taken as proof; but whether he really was who he claimed to be is another question altogether. Inconveniently, the historical record only covers Earthly matters. Beyond that you're reliant on faith. Untested conviction is not the same as proof.

And none of this alters the fact, the proven fact, that mass immigration has done and is doing great damage to this country. Those with troubled Christian consciences might do better to consider what causes millions of people to uproot themselves and abandon their countries. Great exoduses may be fashionable Biblical events but they are invariably a symptom of some ill, and rarely a solution to it.

Ah, they are parasites because they are poor...

I guess their parasitic qualities are more related to their propensity to attach themselves to a host and take from it while giving nothing back of value in return? A generalisation of course and no doubt some are hard working but plenty more will be undesirables.

The unpalatable reality is that overall they represent a threat to us and bring nothing of value, I fail to see how being concerned about that is unreasonable.

some people will fail to recognise the effect of a slap in the mush with a sock full of diarrhea until its happened, and sadly when reality does finally hit home the effects are to late to rectify, as with immigration and the cry of racism at every attempt to discuss the problem NOW, with immigration its not just them that are going to suffer as a result of their bigoted blindness.

If one is prepared to employ twisted logic it is possible to argue the benefits of even "a slap in the mush with a sock full of diarrhoea" unfortunately we have people prepared to do this for whatever their reasons.

I'm not convinced that some of the posts are anything other than wind ups they are so devoid of rationality!!

Prove it.

Apologies for the digression, but he did ask twice...

First thing, did Thucydides, Julius Caesar and Tacitus actually live, were they real people? (Links - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thucydides http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacitus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Caesar ) Obvious answer is yes?

There are no original manuscripts about the above, yet we accept that they lived through the documents that exist, Thucydides lived 400yrs before Jesus walked on earth, yet we have @ 8 copies of his histories of which the earliest is dated around 900AD, 1300 years after they were first written and we know all about the Peloponessian war from these documents, no-one denies that he did not exist or that there were no wars in the 5c BC. Julius and Tacitus are similar, the earliest copies of histories written by them are @ 700-900 years after the event, again no-one denies their existence or the historical facts.

The earliest piece of manuscript we have of the NT dates back to @ 50years after they were written and rather than being one of a few copies, like Thucydides above, there are around 5 000 pieces of manuscript dating from within 200 years of the events and which back each other up. Lukes Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles were asked for by an unknown "Theophilus", probably a rich Roman, who wanted first hand knowledge of what happened to Jesus and others in 1st century Judea.

If, from the evidence above, you still say we have not proved Jesus existed in 1st century Judea, then we also have to throw in the bin the other authors and the histories that they wrote about.
