I have a a400 xtreme and love it. It will cycle 2 3/4" clay loads and 3 1/2" goose loads no problem. Only had it a month but it has not jammed once

Have you tried a few different clay loads? Eg 24gram carts? 27g super fasts? I really fancy one but don't went to jump in without some more research. I want a 26inch version and they seem to be gold hens teeth... Did you do a run in period on heavy cartridges?

I would go for the Beretta , err because the other one is a Beneli

Have you had bad experiences with inertia too fenboy?

I had one of the first xplora A400,I loved it, then it devepoled a problem where it wouldn't fire when the trigger was pulled, only on first cart and fired after I racked the bolt,it went to GMK 3 times and still did it so I flogged it,shame as up till then it'd been perfect.

Is this a common fault?

They just dont shot as nice , I shot Beretta for years and hardly had a problem at all .

Having said that I now shoot a Remington Versamax and am starting to like it more and more , had several cartridges through it now from 67mm 28gm to 89mm heavy steel loads and not a single problem so far.

I have a 26 inch A400 xtreme in black have had it 9 months shot clays with 24 gram steel didn't have a problem after it was broke in with some big shells ,its a lovely fast handling auto and soaks up the recoil on 3 1/2 I use mine mostly down the marsh and in all weather's never had a problem ,I don't think you will regret buying one.

I have owned both! I had issues with the SBE cycling loads less than 70mm, but, I did read that it would struggle with loads less than 70mm before I bought it. They are cracking looking guns, anything from a 70 to 86mm cartridge was fine, never had a jam.

I have since swapped over to the a400 Extreme, its amazing, the only thing I don;t find that great is the finish of the camo coating on the fore end. It cycles all loads I have tried 67 up to 86mm no issues, the Kick Off is amazing and actually works, I would highly recommend the a400.

The 26inch is the one I would go for as well, I think it's the closest to a 28/30" o/u. They seem to be so few and far between though. I think the only way to get one in Camo is to go through sportsman gun centre and get a brand new one at £1760. I really fancy one but I have a feeling it will live in the cabinet more than the outside. Do you think it would handle a round of clays without a cartridge problem? Cheers

This is EXACTLY what puts me off Benellis and such like... Being temperamental is no use to anyone. Have you had any failures at all? Take it the run in period is 50+ 36gram game loads? Cheers

I've got the A400 xplor light and it will even cycle 21g clay loads with ease but is only has a 3" chamber. I love mine and really easy to clean and maintain and not had a single jam and only ran mine in with super fast 27g clay loads

I had a problem with cheek slap when firing A400 xplor light - did you experience this?

Do you know which stock spaces you have in your A400 or what are standard.

i have also noticed that the LOP is 0.75" shorter than my Silver Pigeon 1.

I have a 400 xcel in my cabinet bought it new when the.y first came out have put all loads and length of cartridge through it never had any problem with any.its a 3inch chamber as I do not want to do wildfowling I don't see the need for a longer chamber.i am not a massive fan of auto's but have to say this one is excellent.

I dislike it when people suggest other things than those in question, but who has ever had a problem with an sx3??

No no you are quite right, I have had a shot of a SX3. They are good guns but I dunno, I just don't fancy one?

I'm going to have a look at both the guns mentioned above tomorrow.

On that note, have any of you A400 owners had this problem of not cycling a second 3 1/2 inch shot? Apparently the first goes fine but the second won't load. And the bolt head wearing through?

One day you'll see the light and learn to love the best auto going ....... Benelli

Seen some stuff online about the bolt head wearing out, quite common it seems as the metal to metal contact wears it quickly.

Other issues with them are the rubber grips peeling and the Kick off system packing up when shooting big goose loads regular.

Plenty of reveiws online about them. If you give most guns with these features enough work its going to wear.

Lovely guns just to dear for Wildfowling to me. Everytime I'm in the Gun Dealers I can't help picking it up and thinking it fits like my 682,but if I stick it in the black stinky marsh mud ill never get it all out.

I bought a Explor Unico second hand and have used it a lot and for all kinds of shooting.

The first owner used it for clays so I assume it had been used Quiet a bit.

I have used it for clay shooting, and I buy the cheapest 28 gram load I can get,

I have done a lot of Pigeon shooting with it, using 30and 32 gram loads,

And I have used it for wildfowling, shooting 3" and 3 1/2" cartridges of differnt loads,

and I can honestly say ,I have not had one single problem with it.

The only problem with this gun is I love it so much,I started to feel to protective of it on the marsh, not wanting to get it wet and muddy,so much so that I went and bought a secondhand Baikel semi

for wildfowling.
