thepasty
Hi Guys I'm after a cheap as possible yet effected scope, I've got a hawke sport on my .22lr that was around £35 and its been great. I need something only to shoot out to 25yrds so a cheap fixed mag will be fine. Can anyone recommend anything? cheers Steve

Zetter
Most mountmaster I have seen have been good but a word of advice is give it a good thrash as soon as you can to make sure the zero reamins constant between sessions. A friend had a new one recently on his AA410 and it kept losing zero when put back in the bag however JSR are fantastic in my experience of there are any issues with purchases. fenboy
I use a 3-12 x 50 mountmaster on my HW97 and its been perfect never personally had any issues with zero shift, thats not to say it cannot happen with any scope.

Zetter
True I did have a Hawke Panorama EV that would shift POI whe you adjuest the PX so it can happen on most stuff. we just appear to have had a couple of issues up the club recently with mountmasters for some reason. Although we have had a batch of 3 AA4** s that have had leaks after a couple of weeks so go figure generally the AA4** seriers are nomally bomb proof. Dekers
You will need an air rifle scope (close parallax) or a variable parallax scope. You don't have to spend a fortune on scopes these days, modern technology and engineering produce some very useable, inexpensive scopes. As already mentioned, spend some time on the JSR site! Yep, in the great scheme of things the Hawke range of scopes are competitively priced, and they are not all made in China. There is good and bad in everything, my Hatsan barrel blew up, but amazingly some work, even Beretta go wrong now and again. So what happened to your Hawke Sidewinder, they have a 10 year warranty and Deben are one of the most helpful companies I have dealt with regards faulty/returns? Sorry mate, you may have had 1 bad HAWKE scope with BUBBLES in the lenses but there are thousands of satisfied customers out there who haven't had a problem. Do you drive a car? Whatever manufacturer it is I can guarantee at least one of them has broken down so does that mean you drive a **** car? Possibly if you have a Moskvitch or an FSO but otherwise you've been unlucky.
