Kes Posted January 15, 2014 Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 My personal preference for shooting pheasants is when they are on the wing and with a shotgun. Happy to shoot pigeons as they go up to roost as are many, but preferably flying. I do cull' a few cocks very late in the season and its easier with a rimfire rifle but not really what I would call 'sport'. Although probably not in this case, you only have to ask a poacher and 90 pheasants from a roost after dark takes about 2 hours with an air rifle, apparently.
