sitsinhedges
I used one, a 391 Teknys, and it was fine but I've got a light 12gauge auto instead now. What exactly do you want to know?

sitsinhedges
Thanks for this, whats the recoil like compared to a 12g? I never had a problem but recoil depends on so many variables including gun fit it's a difficult one to answer. It all comes down to what your expectations are too but generally it will be a bit less than a break open gun. You can use lighter cartridges in a break open gun though because they don't have to cycle it.
sitsinhedges
I had a couple of hatsans too but they didn't cycle reliably

88b
A friend I shoot with has a really bad back and neck he shoots a Beretta A400 with the I believe it's called kick off in the butt. You can pull it into your shoulder and feel the shock absorber.

hedge hunter
Ok no probs mate. If you ever are around my way though the offer still stands mate ok. Put it this way, I used to shoot 12s. But same thing really bad back just made life uncomfortable lugging a 12 around all day. So I tried a 20bore, in fact I liked them so much I sold all my 12s and now only use nothing but the 20 lol. Lighter to carry, less recoil whats not to like ?
Rimfireboy
I've got an AL391 teknys gold in 20 bore and it's lovely and smooth to shoot, but if you want lowest recoil I think the A400 is the way to go. I bought an A400 Xtreme last year and its so soft on recoil now it's bedded in. Heavy magnum loads are softer than a 30 gr in my sxs, and regular 32 gr game loads, can't feel them in the Xtreme. It's got shock absorbers inside the stock.
Dekers
Tricky, I bad a Benelli 20 semi many years back, it was a cracking gun, but I don't have/need a 20g semi anymore!
Cranfield
I have a 20 bore Benelli semi auto , weighs around 6lb-4ozs , using it with 28gms the recoil is minimal. I would certainly recommend your friend finding a 20 bore semi auto to test shoot.
BrowningDJC
My younger sister started shooting with a Browning Fusion 20 bore which we still have, superb little gun, absolutely no recoil with normal ounce loads, i often use it for roost shooting or decoying. Dangerous Brian
I bought a Webley and Scott 820 for my Wife to use as she is pretty small and couldn't get on with the weight of an O/U (pity but that is just my preference). The gun is pretty light as is the recoil. It doesn't seem to like Eley CT 24g fibre, occasionaly not cycling, but everything else I have fed it with has gone through fine, including 65mm cases. Salop Matt
My Mrs had a Franchi 20g semi-auto which was nice to shoot ! She took a step back from shooting and sold it sadly but two months later spent the money on a pump action 20g for me as an engagement pressent

It will certainly kick less in a gas op. Is he any more comfortable sitting with back support? I don't know hit issue but is it all in the kick? Sounds unlikely with say 28 grm from a gas op auto but I don't know
